5 Ways We Ruined the Occupy Wall Street Generation

OC stuff

How to win:

Less than 5 minutes showed three people that folks neither cops nor criminals can carry a gun, legally, and be pleasant and polite – just may be changing a couple of young worldviews (and MAYBE an older one…) by not being gruff or standoffish.

Letter to open carriers: Please buy better holsters.

Deal alert

For Veteran’s day, MJM’s book is on sale for Kindle readers.

Little 9s

Since I’m interested in these now:

PF9 v. P11

PF-9 Holsters

Dumbest guy you’ll see today

Bonus points for doing something stupid and breaking the law.

Scientists makes invisibility strands

As seen in Predator:

Gunwalker stuff

Holder refusing to provide 11 witnesses.

Confirmation bias

Now, I think everyone sucks at economics.

And these count as ‘children killed with guns’

Jumping the gun laws

HR822 may come up for a vote and McCarthy and Lautenberg are already asking Obama to veto it.

The controversial KSG

From Oleg

Jose Guereña’s family files wrongful death suit

KVOA:

Jose Guereña died May 5th, during a raid at his southwest side home, reportedly after he pointed a rifle at officers. The team fired 71-shots in all, nearly two dozen hit the former marine. Weeks later court documents tied Guereña to a drug trafficking ring; something the family’s attorney said isn’t true.

3,000 missing guns

From police warehouses in Honduras. I wonder where they’ll end up?

.410 defensive ammo

Interesting, since it’s from a shotgun. If from a Judge, the extra weight they add to the gun would make it a better club.

7.62×40 WT

Odd: a .223 Rem. case necked up to .308 Win.

When communists are making fun of your entitlement culture . . .

You may have a problem:

Chinese political and business leaders are increasingly triumphant after two decades of rapid economic growth that lifted unprecedented millions of people out of poverty and turned the nation into an economic superpower, saying their success proves its political and economic system is superior to the Western model.

In extensive talks with a series of Chinese leaders, an oft-cited point of criticism is the gridlock and “dysfunction” they see in Washington. They say fawning by U.S. political leaders seeking re-election has created an “entitlement culture” where the public has grown dependent on government largesse.

Rich right there.

Making the switch

No secret that I really like my Kel-Tec P3AT with Lasergrips. But I’m thinking about switching to a pocket 9. I know folks like their PF9s and some folks pocket carry them. I figure the switch would mean one less type of ammo to stock up on and, of course, a 9mm has more oomph than a 380.

Any recommendations for gun or holster?

Police raid Heckler & Koch in bribery probe

Bribing the Mexican government:

Police have raided the headquarters of German gun maker Heckler & Koch as part of an investigation into illegal gun sales to the Mexican government.

It’s like the perfect storm of internet gun fodder: guns, Mexico, because you suck and we hate you.

Internet gun community loses one

In a comment from James, I learned of the passing of Dr. Marshall Carlisle St. John. He’s the founder of mouseguns.com, a great resource for those who were getting into the recent pocket carry craze. I didn’t know he lived in Tennessee about an hour away from me. I’ve linked to and used his site many times.

Godspeed, Sir.

Eton Microlink

I recently got the Self-Powered AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio with Flashlight, Solar Power and Cell Phone Charger for the car. Pretty handy and, for just $30, a good thing for the go bag. It has a hand crank for power and some solar cells too. The flashlight is a LED light that is adequate but not comparable to other higher end lights. The really neat thing about it is that it has a USB port and you can use it to charge your cell phone. And that is a handy thing to have in the car or in a go bag.

Hunters and phones

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources agents ask hunters for phones. Apparently, texting your buddy that a deer is coming his way is a no no.

Like you and me, only better

In Cali, people are shocked that the police are not subject to the same firearms restrictions as everyone else:

A federal investigation into weapons dealing by officers in three Sacramento-area law enforcement agencies has shined a light on provisions in California law that allow peace officers to buy guns, high-capacity magazines and assault weapons that are illegal for the public.

Which is more useless?

Rifle caliber pistols or pistol caliber rifles?

Depends. Rifle caliber pistols, never felt the need for. But pistol caliber rifles are quite handy to have so you can shoot them at the indoor range. My 9mm AR was basically set up identically to my 5.56 AR for exactly that reason. And pistol caliber carbines do offer increased performance.

GoPro + Mount + Stick + Dog

So full of win:

Interesting idea

A new wifi-based phone carrier will offer unlimited data, voice and text for $20 a month. They do that by using wifi when they can.

New gun smell

Weerd gets a FAL. Always liked them but, man, they’re heavy.

Ballistic Clipboard

It stops bullets.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
