Since I’m interested in these now:

PF9 v. P11

PF-9 Holsters

I have a P11. The trigger is horribly gritty ( and it bites your index finger… they do make a shoe that supposedly helps) and the rear sight (crappy plastic) has come loose, but it always goes bang.

I’ve read that one can send the gun back to Kel-Tec for a gratis fluff and buff. I’ve got to get a roundtuit and take care of that.

I think Dennis at Dragonleatherworks might be able to set you up with his Fugly for IWB when you chose your pistol.

I’ve been debating a PF-9 as well…but for $150 more I can get a Kahr CM9, which is arguably a better gun in the same form factor. Decisions, decisions.

I own both a PF9 and a P11, and I like, trust, carry and shoot both. The differences between the two are the obvious (size, weight, and capacity) and the less obvious – the way the two guns function.

The P11 is a true DA gun, every time you pull the trigger it fully cocks and releases the hammer. This gives you second strike capability on a round that doesn’t fire. It also allows you to load a snap cap and dry-fire until your heart is content without jacking the slide after every pull.

The PF9 is pre-cocked when you rack the slide (like a Glock). This does make for a much shorter and lighter (read better, not Glock better, but a lot better) trigger pull.

The other trade off is the additional weight of the P11 does help the recoil impluse.

For holsters I have both a Crossbred and a Remora IWB for both guns, and interchange depending on what I am wearing.

rightisright – A fluff and buff will only marginally help the P11 trigger, it will still be as long and bumpy as a back road (and still bite a little). A fluff and buff on a PF9 does help smooth things out.

Secret Squirrel – when you look at the street price, your “but” represents about 60% more for the Kahr. Then there is the whole Moonie thing…

I had a P-11 when it first came out, I carried it with the belt clip and didn’t worry about the trigger because it is like a revolver pull. I took the trigger assembly out and cleaned it all up and then I fluff and buffed it and when I was done the trigger seemed lighter and quite smooth. I used an small rubber bumper glued to the frame and cut to length for a trigger stop which stopped the pinch in pulling shots to the right. I gave it to my father when he got his CCW and switched to .357 snubbie, but I am seriously considering getting another one. The thinner PF-9 is appealing, but the P-11 will Smith and Wesson 59 series mags that add a few more rounds. Of course since I carry a snubbie you really cant call me a round nazi. I also suggest a handall Jr., it jumps around a little so ya gotta hold on tight.

FYI Oleg did a photo shoot on the P-11 where it eats from double-stack S&W Steel-auto mags, so you can carry a 15 round reload for the P-11, that’s almost real-gun power for a pocket gun.

My PF-9 lives and rides in a Crossbreed Supertuck holster. I love it. I use the belt clips that go behind the belt and hook up facing out. I’m still intending to add velcro to the inside of my belt and switch my holster clips to the velcro type for even greater subtlety. But check out the Crossbreed Supertuck!

G27. You’ll eventually get fed up with home-gunsmithing the Kel-Tec and wind up buying a real gun, anyways, so why waste time and money on the Kel-Tec in the first place?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
