I don’t really care what Bill Wilson says. If 300blk moves 110-220gr and 7.62WT moves 110-150 that’s it right there for me.
Not to mention the 3-gun nationals were just won with a 300blk round, Remington backs 300blk with UMC ammo coming, the .mil is using 300blk in trials, ammo from a lot of mfgs is available all over the internet, S&W DPMS CMMG PWS and REM/AAC (obviously) and a lot of others are all rolling out 300blk guns.
Wilson stuff will be available from….. Just Wilson. Yep… Sounds like a winner. They should talk to JD Jones about really getting the product out there. Oh wait…
I have a .300 BLK, supressed, and I love it! It does blow a fair amount of smoke though in the Remington Factory Sub-sonic loading.
I have not played with the full-power offering though, so I don’t really know how it compares to the Wilson round. The Wilson round just seems unnecessary to me.
So it matches the ballistics of the 7.62 x 39 for which you can already get an AR, and AK, SKS, Vz58, Ruger Mini-30, T/C Contender, and many other platforms that have been around for years. OK then.
Lyle, x39 doesn’t work (really at all) in the AR. If you want AR platform an a 30 cal bullet your options are limited.
300blk (formalized 300 Whisper) being the option with the most support behind it. And this dumb Wilson round being a variant on that while requiring modified mags.
This and 300blk are a 223 case with a 308 bullet, both US military backed rounds. I’m curious about the future availability of cheap x39 rounds.

Looks a bit like a 300 blackout, but with more powder.

I prefer the 300 blackout; especially suppressed.

Just think of it as what the M1 carbine round was supposed to be!
