I just bought an armorer’s block. Guess I’m a gunsmith now

Via Robb, a stroke of the pen and law of the land as the new ITAR guidance targets small time gunsmiths. Threading barrels and owning special tooling makes you a gunsmith, subject to a couple grand in license fees.

More from the NRA.

Chicago is a gun banners wet dream in terms of gun control. Yet the homicide rate for blacks is surging.

Police shootings up?

Mentioned this yesterday. But are police murders really on the rise?

Democrats and guns

At the convention, lots of mention of gun violence. But no solutions.

Speaking of winning

A poll of millennial women shows that protecting gun rights is tied for third as an issue important to them.

We’re winning

Carry permits are at an all time high. Notably, more women and minorities are getting them.

Europe hates that Americans have superior technology err air conditioning. I live in an area where people who don’t have air conditioning die often enough. Transposing a map of the US over Europe along the same latitudes is interesting. I’m in about Cyprus.

The Trumpening: Troll level grandmaster edition

NBC News:

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump proposed from a podium at his Doral Resort. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

But the headline from the story: Trump Urges Russia to Expose Clinton’s Personal Email. All the press got their narrative on:

The Paper of Making Up the Record: Donald Trump Calls on Russia to Find Hillary Clintons Missing Emails

And countless more parrot this lie that Trump is calling for the Russians to do this. He said he hoped they did. Hell, I hope they do too. For the lulz. But it gets better. Hillary spokes weasels said this was a national security issue.

I mean, if those emails Hillary deleted were just personal, why are they a national security issue? After all, there was nothing in them, right?

I don’t like Trump. I won’t vote for him. But, damn, that was well played.

More on the rise in violent crime

Shooting deaths of police are up 78% this year.

Aww, how cute

Some half-wit I’ve never heard of named Kesha:

You cant control every single person and know how theyre going to deal with things and know if theyre going to pick up a weapon you dont know that, she continued. But what we can control is who we give the f—ing weapons to.

No, you can’t, idiot.

He’s a socialist and a democrat. Of course he expects other people to pay the bill

Bernie Sanders leaves a town stuck with a $23K tab for one of his rallies.

Looks like both millennials and African Americans aren’t quite as into gun control as most people think.

Summing up the anti-gun argument

Democrats on guns

The Hill reports:

There were a lot of cynics who said, Hillary Clintons going to drop this issue once the primary was over. That this was just a means to create a wedge with Sen. Sanders,” said Murphy, who has become Congresss best-known gun control advocate since the 2012 shooting in Newtown, Conn.

“They were wrong.

Pepperidge farm remembers:

The party rejoiced after enacting an assault weapons ban under President Clinton in 1994, but when the Republicans trounced them at the polls later in the year, many attributed the defeat to the gun debate.

At the WaPo:

At the past three Democratic conventions, only one presidential nominee mentioned the scourge of gun violence. Eight years ago in Denver, Barack Obama devoted a single sentence to the subject in his 5,000-word acceptance speech.

This years convention is shaping up very differently.

It’s the same nonsense where they use the terms gun safety and common sense gun laws, when everyone knows they mean gun control. Heck, some in the party admit to it. You know, when no one is looking.

The DNC has gone full retard with gun control . . .

Violent crime rising

From CNN:

Violent crime is on the rise so far this year in major cities across the US compared to the number of homicides, rapes, robberies, assaults and shootings that occurred in the same cities by this point in 2015, a new report has found.

The midyear violent crime survey released Monday by the Major Cities Chiefs Association shows 307 more homicides so far in 2016, according to data from 51 law enforcement agencies from some of the largest US cities.

In addition to a large increase in homicides, major cities in the US have experienced more than 1,000 more robberies, almost 2,000 more aggravated assaults and more than 600 non-fatal shootings in 2016 compared to this time last year. The only category of violent crime not reflecting an increase when compared to last year is rape.

Given that violent crime has been on a steady decline since 1993, I’d say it’s reasonable to expect it to rise and fall from year to year. I was wondering where Trump was getting his stance on violent crime. Maybe this was it.

A tale of two conventions

You can tell a lot about who the speakers are.

They’re still making them?

The last VCRs will be made this month.

Pay attention out there

Democrats and guns

No lip service to the second amendment in this year’s party platform. I’m not surprised. They never meant it before.

Florida Man

Well, OK:

A Florida man was arrested along with three others last Sunday by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officer for allegedly picking hallucinogenic mushrooms in the Little Big Econ State Wildlife Management Area in Seminole County, Florida while also carrying a 2-foot-long alligator in his backpack.

Smith and Wesson to acquire Crimson Trace

From a press release:

Crimson Trace has long been a key supplier of laser sighting systems for Smith & Wesson. For more than two decades, Crimson Trace has provided consumers, military units, and law enforcement officers around the globe with the world’s largest selection of award-winning laser sight and tactical light products. Crimson Trace offers more than 225 products and is widely recognized as the world’s leading brand of laser sights for firearms. Its award-winning innovations include the Lasergrips, Laserguard, and Rail Master platforms. The company’s product line also includes the Defender Series, Lightguard, and its new LiNQ wireless activation system. Based in Wilsonville, Oregon, Crimson Trace operates from a 50,000 square foot, leased facility where it engineers and manufactures its products.

Crimson Trace was founded 22 years ago and has organically generated a ten year compound annual revenue growth rate in excess of 10%. The company maintains a product development team that has an established track record of launching high-quality, innovative laser sighting products. As a result, its products maintain a premium position with hundreds of independent retailers as well as large sporting goods retailers, including Cabela’s, MidwayUSA, Nation’s Best Sports, and internet retailer Optics Planet, Inc.

James Debney, Smith & Wesson President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “Crimson Trace provides us with an exceptional opportunity to acquire a thriving company that is completely aligned with our strategy to become a leader in the market for shooting, hunting, and rugged outdoor enthusiasts. As the undisputed leader in the market for laser sighting products, Crimson Trace serves as an ideal platform for our new Electro-Optics Division. Firearms purchasers frequently buy electro-optic accessories to enhance the capabilities and performance of their firearms. The growth that Crimson Trace has delivered is a testament to the high product quality and the robust product development capability that Lane Tobiassen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Crimson Trace, and his team have established. That capability, combined with Crimson Trace’s leadership position in the market for laser sights, provides a solid framework for organic and inorganic growth.”

Lane Tobiassen, who joined Crimson Trace in 2005, will serve as President of the new Electro-Optics Division of Smith & Wesson, and will report directly to Debney. The Crimson Trace management team and workforce, as well as its base of operations, will remain in Wilsonville, Oregon after the acquisition.

I’m a fan of both S&W M&P pistols and Crimson Trace.

The leaked DNC emails and guns

Everytown lying to the DNC. Lying is all they have.

Shannon Watts begging for money. With bonus Brady Campaign getting punked.

Vote Scott Williams because Doug Overbey is kind of awful

The TN second district race is well underway and someone has created a website on how awful incumbent Senator Doug Overbey is.

Doug Overbey is bad on the 2nd Amendment

He likes to raise taxes

And he supported Obamacare. Americans for Prosperity has been running ads on this actually.

These are some of the reasons I’m supporting Scott Williams for Senate. Endorsement here.

The leaked DNC emails: Nothing surprising

Their racist “taco bowl engagement” to target Hispanics. Sure, they did it the day after Trump’s taco bowl kerfuffle but any other group would be labeled racist immediately.

Homophobia too: No homo

The emails show collusion between Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself).

And plans to reward big donors with federal appointments.

If any of this surprises anyone, you’ve not paid a bit of attention to the democrats in years.
