Look, Forrest, if you don’t want a gun, cool. Don’t get one. No problem. However, when you put pen to paper (or fingers to internet stupid machine or whatever) and explain why, do so in a logical manner. This is just stupid:
I decided there was one principal reason I wouldnt buy a handgun: I dont want to live in fear. I know that sounds strange a gun is supposed to bring peace of mind. But to keep a piece at your side is to look at the world through gunsights. Its a profoundly anti-social posture. To me, carrying a handgun is an acknowledgement of weakness, not strength. Its an admission that youre out of ideas for how to deal with people, even those especially those who mean you harm. Its a failure of imagination, a failure of wits and, in the case of open carry, a threat of violence to every passing person.
No, it’s not a sign of weakness. Much like not driving a car means you’re slow. It’s acknowledging that you are a tool using primate. And you can be more effective.
