Gun sales

After record gun sales during the Obama administration, it stands to reason that the rush to buy would subside. Now, they have and now the false cries from the left that the gun biz is in serious financial trouble. It’s not. The Chicago Tribune didn’t get the memo describing that narrative:

The most wanted gun in America is what The New York Times dubbed the AR-15-style semiautomatic in February 2013. Even though assault weapons guns originally designed for combat use and rapid fire constitute only about 1 percent of all 300 million firearms in America, lately theyve been flying off the shelves. Demand has outpaced production.

And, of course, Colt is not in trouble for making bad products or civilian sales being down. It’s due to poor management.

Sling bow

This looks pretty neat (though I doubt the guy’s comments about a machine gun):

Found them for sale here. Anyone tried one?

Blocking ads

Via Glenn, comes mention of Apple blocking ads:

Consumers will like this feature, and it won’t cost Apple anything; the company makes its money off of it’s outstanding hardware, not ads. Meanwhile, it will hurt one of their main rivals in the primordial battle for dominance between Silicon Valley’s tech giants: Google. Which does make money off of ads. For Apple, what’s not to like about this development?

I’ve joked a few times that Microsoft should take the Apple business model and block Itunes, other browsers, and google ads. But they’re about 5 years late on that now.

Exploitation

The Brady Campaign To Cling To Relevancy, once again, exploited a family of a victim of gun violence in a lawsuit. And, once again, lost.

All the news that’s printed to fit

So, Bloomberg is going to start his own editorial operation that will promote on gun control propaganda. I guess they’re out of ideas.

In some states, possibly

Time: Guns Were Much More Strictly Regulated in the 1920s and 1930s than They Are Today

It’s silliness of course. I mean, do they want us to go back to gun laws in the 1920s? I do.

Here’s a good idea

If you’re a convicted felon, make sure you put a selfie with a gun on facebook:

The evidence against Farrah also includes photos he posted on Facebook that show weapons, large amouts (sic) of cash, and a bagged substance that looks like marijuana.

Putting evidence of your criminal activity up is a good idea too.

Setback

In DC, the order of a judge to DC that they must process carry permits is now on hold.

ATF involved in day to day busts in NYC

Because gun crime is up:

Now in an unprecedented move, a federal agency is joining the effort to get gun crimes under control, CBS2s Marcia Kramer reported Monday.

Kramer is told it was a collective decision made by the federal government, the NYPD, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Those agencies are mounting a first-ever anti-gun initiative in high-crime areas.

Chris Christie on eminent domain

He’s cool with stealing property at the threat of a gun to give to someone else.

Ruger Redhawk .45 Colt & .45 ACP

Right here. This has my interest. When looking at a new gun, I consider the caliber for monetary reasons. I’m pretty heavily invested in four calibers* and the thought of having to invest in another is a factor. My shelf space is at a premium and the cost of getting into another caliber have dissuaded me from buying some guns. Many a times, I’ve found a good deal on something in .40, and I pass.

* 22LR, 9MM, 5.56, and .45ACP if you must know.

Does that include your taxpayer funded security detail?

Police officers keep shooting themselves with M&Ps, like they did with Glocks. So, obviously, it’s the gun’s fault.

And speaking of the internet of things

The Bookface wants me to identify myself on my SayUncle facebook page. I’m not inclined to do that so consider it done.

Respect her gender fluidity

So, this woman has been pretending to be black for years. I find the whole thing fascinating. Rather like the Bruce Jenner silliness. Unlike Jenner, whose actions affect basically no one, she actually committed what appears to be fraud. And advanced her career. But it amuses me terribly for some reason.

The internet of things

Blogging sure ain’t what it used to be.

In the last few years, the Al Gore’s internets have sure changed. It’s now, mostly, social media and clickbait bullshit. I’m OK with the former. But the latter rots your brain and, in all likelihood, is where the majority of Americans get their “news”. And it’s perpetuated by social media. Of course, it makes sense now. I mean the local news for years was the TeeVee equivalent of clickbait: Something in your water can kill you. News at 11. Then, you know, you watched it and it turned out not to be true. And that’s pretty much exactly how clickbait bullshit works. Misleading headline and sensationalism. I guess the business model works.

Bloggers are quitting. And slowing down. And quitting and then showing back up. And then check out this guy. All he does is link to shit and doesn’t write anymore. He used to link cool stuff and also write some stuff.

I’m not quitting. But out put will be irregular. And, for the next few days, maybe not at all. Seems my blogging PC won’t charge anymore. Waiting on a part.

Unpossible

Five injured after firearm accidentally discharged during wedding at Waldorf Astoria. You can’t carry a gun there. But this:

The guest carrying the gun was detained and questioned by police, according to the affiliate, but it is unclear whether he will face charges.
