Did they realize it was illegal?
White House puts stop on ATF’s made up rule about multiple long gun sales reporting. This rule would have been illegal, but that never stops bureaucrats. Bonus link to ATF’s Emergency Justification documents.

Mentioned the deal on M&P mags at Botach. Just got notified that they’re out of stock and back ordered. No ETA. Good thing I don’t need them right now.
Anyone know some place else I can get a few for a good price?
Tam talks scout rifles. I don’t really get them other than, yeah, they’re pretty cool. But they don’t do any job great but do most jobs sort of OK. She’s especially unimpressed with the cost of Ruger’s new mags.
Bill O’Reilly doesn’t know the gravitational effects of the sun and moon and the earth cause tides to flow. I shit you not:
O’REILLY: I’ll tell you why [religion’s] not a scam, in my opinion: tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can’t explain that.
SILVERMAN: Tide goes in, tide goes out?
O’REILLY: See, the water, the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always comes in, and always goes out. You can’t explain that.
Maybe he and ICP should put their heads together and figure out this magnet business.
My last vehicle bleg worked well so I figured I would ask. For the Mrs. and her people-hauling adventures, she wants something larger than the Honda Pilot. What do you recommend? Requirements:
Nothing from GM or subsidiaries. I will not drive a government car ever.
Same for Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, etc. No bailout company will get my money.
Enough towing for mulch and household stuff on a trailer.
For price range, I don’t really know where these things start. So help me out there. (I like my Infiniti and checked out Infiniti’s Earthfuckertm. But at $60K, no thanks.
Bonus points for annoying hippies.
Sorry. You do a post with the word prescription in it, and wordpress thinks all comments are spam.
were negligent. Called accidental, of course. Says the duck: I might point out that putting fingers on triggers when one shouldn’t are likely your biggest problem.
High court holds second amendment does not protect carrying a gun outside the home. Eugene Volokh says: I don’t think this analysis is right.
More here.
A man who emigrated to the United States from the United Kingdom more than 30 years ago filed a lawsuit Monday against the state of South Dakota after his application for a concealed weapon permit was denied.
Under South Dakota law, a person must be a U.S. citizen in order to qualify for a concealed weapon permit, but Wayne Smith contends that provision violates the U.S. Constitution.
Smith, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota, filed his lawsuit in federal district court.
A lot of things I like about this suit: Seeing someone from Where Great Britain Used To Be wanting a carry permit; seeing the citizen requirement challenged; and that the ACLU is representing the guy.
We hear cries there will be blood in the streets any time some place liberalizes their gun carry laws. And it keeps not happening.
Reporters and producers were discussing use of the word nigger in a story, during a meeting. One white reporter said:
“Does this mean we can finally say the word n-?”*
Anyway, he was fired for it. He sued claiming discrimination. Seems that black people using the word in the workplace were not fired.
* As an aside, the press account can’t use the word nigger even to reference it as a word? I think I see the problem.
Caught this the other night. There’s a whole lot of stupid here:

Florida is among several states now holding what are called “no refusal” checkpoints.
It means if you refuse a breath test during a traffic stop, a judge is on site, and issues a warrant that allows police to perform a mandatory blood test.
This is going to get someone killed.
Where guns are banned, policeman get shot.
Student walks right through a school’s no gun policy and kills someone.
Robbers disregard GA Tech no gun rules.
Man walks right through restraining order, girlfriend ends up dead.
An study in the paper about Knoxville’s relative preparedness. Seems they’re fairly well prepared. Via MJM, who notes you can get free bug out bags.
We have one of those flexible spending accounts. The deal with those, roughly, is that the money you put in the account isn’t taxed and you can spend it on health care related things. Things like medicine, co-pays, and other things. Well, thanks to Obamacare, you can now use it on less:
Section 9003 of the Affordable Care Act established a new uniform standard for medical expenses. Effective Jan. 1, 2011, distributions from health FSAs and HRAs will be allowed to reimburse the cost of over-the-counter medicines or drugs only if they are purchased with a prescription. This new rule does not apply to reimbursements for the cost of insulin, which will continue to be permitted, even if purchased without a prescription.
Guess I’ll have to stock up when we fill prescriptions.
They are now shall issue. Some sheriffs are playing the parts of obstructionists while Iowans flock to get permits.
In comments on my review of the M&P9, jumpthestack says of the frame tool:
The frame tool is useless. I just use my finger to push the sear disconnect down. You can also just pull the trigger like on a Glock.
Ah. So that is their fix to the supposed Glock problem of having to pull the trigger before disassembling.

Utah university tried to ban open carry but preemption laws work and they lost their case. So, they have a policy which says guns disrupt class and disrupting class is illegal. A couple of security officers were suspended for disclosing this policy. More discussion here:
The University of Utah has created a secret policy whereby its police officers are instructed in how to harass and intimidate law abiding gun owners by trumping up non-gun charges for perfectly lawful conduct. This policy violates both the letter and spirit of State Law and binding State Supreme Court ruling. Keeping such a policy secret violates sound notions of openness and transparency in government.
Feds are supposedly investigating the snow clean up slow down by NYC employees. Allegations they worked slowly to protest budgets, intentionally damaged property, and were generally useless. Heads should roll. But, being NYC, they’ll probably all be given raises and better benefits.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
