Four out of 25 police gun shots

were negligent. Called accidental, of course. Says the duck: I might point out that putting fingers on triggers when one shouldn’t are likely your biggest problem.

    Oops. That’s Gabe.

    Did the other 21 miss?

  4. Huck Says:

    “Did the other 21 miss?”

    Most likely.

  5. Ted N(not the Nuge) Says:

And now, a show of hands from the regular readers who are surprised by this… Nobody, huh. That’s not much of a surprise either.

  6. DHSGuy Says:

Once again, a catchy headline by a selective editing. The reader should note the article is only about ONE police agency, and that the number is far lower when compared to CCW holders negligent discharges.

  7. SayUncle Says:

any idiot would realize that since the denominator was small.

  8. mpw280 Says:

I have been to many many gun shows in my life and the only time a weapon was discharged it was one of Milwaukee’s finest racking all the rounds of 9mm through the chamber instead of dropping the clip and emptying the chamber. They wanted to beat him to a pulp but they settled for physically tossing the guy out of the show. mpw

  9. Tin Kicker Says:

Once again, somebody throws out UNVERIFIED statistics. DHSGuy says, “…the number is far lower when compared to CCW holders negligent discharges….” Does he have any real evidence of this. or is this more blowing of smoke and bluster. If you can back this up with REAL statistics, I apologize, otherwise the statement stands…..

  10. Runcible Says:

@Tin Kicker – I’ve been a CCW holder for about two years and I’ve never discharged accidentally. In fact, I’ve never even touched the trigger of a loaded gun except when I intended to discharge a round at a range.

  11. ThomasD Says:

DHSguy, got a link to some stats for that assertion? Not that I’m certain you are a liar, just that I’d like to know who is tracking that data, how they are tracking it, and exactly what the numbers say.

On the plus side (from the initial story, the errors were self reported and they lead to additional training.

  12. Wylee Coyote Says:

An old shooter once told me, “There are two kinds of shooters. Those who have had negligent discharges, and those who are liars.”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
