Carry your gun
Woman shoots attacking dog. But had to go back to her house to get her gun.
In case it comes up, how are we spelling the name of that guy who will soon not be Libya’s leader these days?
A new bill advancing through the Iowa Senate would compel gun owners to take a breathalyzer test if an officer suspects they’re intoxicated while armed.
Under the proposal, anyone who declines would automatically forfeit their firearm permit.
Most folks don’t know how business works. And, for some reason, profit is a bad word to a lot of people. To illustrate this, in the very near future there will be gnashing of teeth and accusations of price gouging as, by most accounts, the price of a gallon of gasoline starts to rise.
They refuse to release information about who in the state is authorized to own a firearm. Good for them.
A look at the Army’s once secret research on the effectiveness of infantry rifles. And this led to the military adopting the M16.
In Arkansas, a bill to prohibit the government from regulating guns during an emergency. And it prevents municipalities from suing gun makers. Not sure I like the latter bit.
The fail to stop a boxcutter from getting on a plane and then admit that, because of the traveling public, that they are unnecessary.
Via Robb, a woman has had her home raided over 50 times because her address is the default address on warrants.
Amazing.
Six SF policeman accused of lying about obtaining evidence in drug raid and doing illegal searches. With video.
Sebastian notes the goal of the various Mayors Against Guns Polls. Of course, I don’t know that people would trust polls from an organization that is comprised of a large number of criminals.
I don’t know that a five round AR magazine is tactical. But they can be useful.
Men’s fashion, by Galco. I have one of their belts. They’re nice.
Mike in comments on Illinois releasing a list of all those authorized to own firearms:
They are always after us to accept “reasonable” regulations. Now, they prove to us–again–that we should resist all forms of registration schemes that create any record of a lawful citizen’s purchases.
Well, reasonable regulations require reasonable people in charge of them.
Tennessee leads in meth busts. Good thing we make buying over the counter medication so difficult. For the children.
Supreme Court says Phelps’ protests are protected speech. And they should be. Offensive speech should be protected.
There is no place in the US legal system for legitimizing Sharia law. Or any other “laws” of religions. The actual bill is pretty dumb and discriminatory but not as advertised by those shaking their fists in righteous indignation would have you believe. It does not ban folks from practicing their religion. It’s stupid and most definitely will not pass constitutional muster. Besides, the stuff our legislators seem to be scared of (terrorism, overthrow of government, warring, Jihad, etc.) is pretty well covered by other laws. The law is pretty weak sauce. But I bet here in Tennessee, it helps get some votes.
On one hand, I can see why some folks rail against the one or two anti-gun bloggers out there. They think maybe someone on the fence is reading those blogs and can be convinced. Unlikely. No one reads them but us. Well, you. I don’t read them. I’m afraid the stupid will rub off. I don’t read japete or Mike or whatever the other idiots are getting kicked around out there. Japete’s only use is that she’s a Brady Board member so when she says something really stupid (which she does a rate of fire faster than any semi-automatic spray fires bullets from the hip), you can note it for later use when the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership once again moves those goal posts. Otherwise, they’re useless and no one reads them.
Another reason to do it is to essentially point out their stupidity and note they are on the losing side of history. Still, not enough to keep me entertained.
Been meaning to say that for a while but the reason I finally did was because of these similar thoughts from Tam.
In North Carolina, your betters are better:
AN ACT to provide that a person elected to a public office in North Carolina or appointed to fill a vacancy in one of those offices who has a concealed handgun permit may carry a concealed handgun and may carry a pocket knife anywhere in the state while holding that office, unless otherwise prohibited by federal law.
Special privileges for the special class.
More tar and feathers would stop this stuff.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
