qdfy

In case it comes up, how are we spelling the name of that guy who will soon not be Libya’s leader these days?

    How about. “Go Daffy!”

  2. wizardpc Says:

    “wormfood”

  3. Ellen Says:

    Mud

  4. Shootin' Buddy Says:

Depends on which transliteration system you are using.

The problem is with Arabic phonemes and the sun letters. Romanization makes the Wade-Giles/Pinyin debacle for Chinese seem clear cut.

  6. Jon Says:

    It’s spelled C-R-A-Z-Y, and pronounced kuh-doff-e.

  7. Paul B Says:

Personally, Like go daffy. He is just like daffy duck in my mind.

  8. DirtCrashr Says:

    Daisy Pusher?

  9. Ed Says:

    Moammar the bloated corpse.

  10. Sigivald Says:

What SB said; the reason his name “changes” is that nobody can make up their mind how to transliterate the Arabic.

Doesn’t matter as long as it’s recognizable, I say.

  11. mikee Says:

This is important. He should be referred to as “ex-dictator” until he can be referred to as “corpse” and then he should be referred to as “a warning to the next few.”

    According to this:

The man himself spells it “Gadhafi”.

  13. BobG Says:

q-dh-dh-f-i is how it is spelled in Arabic; it depends on which dialect you speak. Most dailects pronounce the q as a g, and quite a few pronounce the dh as a d.

    Goddamnificarey

  15. Newbius Says:

    G-A-D-F-L-Y

  16. Ellen Says:

I think these rapidly-changing transliterations are an academic plot to make it nearly impossible to study the history of dictatorship.

  17. Mike M. Says:

    D – E – A – D

  18. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Wonder if he spells it the same way each time himself.

  19. Jason Says:

I heard someone (Dennis Miller?) say that the confusion is due to the fact that each of his personalities spells his name differently.

  20. Jerry Says:

    Diqheadious Maximus.

  21. Boyd Says:

    I spell it: القذافي

  22. Dave_in_PB Says:

    Qdofus

  23. Bubblehead Les Says:

    Richard Cranium.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
