What’s the crime?

Guy gives a performance of Lunch Lady Land to a first grade class. Then, he edits the footage so it looks like he’s singing an inappropriate song to the first graders. Posts video on you tube. They charge him with child pornography. You know, years in prison. Getting on a sex offender registry stuff. All of that.

Even though the prosecutor admits it’s unjust and inappropriate.

I’m still trying to figure out the actual crime.

Ravenwood’s Law

Wild west references from editorial boards about gun laws. They keep saying that and it keeps not happening. Also, this got a touch of dehumanization in it.

In Chicago

Electing felons. Hey, when you’re a Chicago politician, what’s a little armed robbery? Felons can’t own guns. But can hold office. Now, which do you think is more dangerous?

Audience Shopping

NPR went audience shopping a bit back. NPR was recently targeted by fake audience shopping. Now, the CEO resigns.

Mexico legislators want to discuss ATF letting guns into their country

It’s getting deep:

Legislators from all of Mexico’s three major parties in congress are calling for a joint U.S.-Mexico working group to examine accusations that U.S. federal agents allowed hundreds of guns to flow into Mexico.

On ATF running guns into Mexico for two years.

How to carry a gun while carrying a baby. Via Breda, who says:

Celebrate the women your life by empowering and protecting them – teach them to shoot and encourage them to carry.

What you do instead of something

The anti-meth hysteria will drive up health care costs for families. And, in general, is a waste of time. On the radio this morning, I heard an ad from Stop Meth Not Meds advocating calling TN reps to tell them knock it off:

Tennessee lawmakers have introduced legislation (HB181/SB 561) that would require a doctor’s prescription for medicines containing pseudoephedrine, while other legislators are supporting a better solution (SB 325/HB 234) – an e-tracking solution.

I agree that we should not have to get a doctor’s note to treat a runny nose. Unfortunately, the group does advocate a sudafed registry.

Stop Traver

NRA has set up StopTraver.org.

More on ATF running guns into Mexico

Been going on since 2008, which, IIRC, is about the time press started parroting the Mexican gun canard. Checking archives, looks like the canard started in October 2007.

Senator Grassley calls for independent investigation of ATF.

Security Theater

At Chuck E. Cheese’s. I’m quite familiar with it.

Another event

Don’t forget, the NRA Annual Meeting is coming up.

Amazing

The feds put up signs advising Americans not to travel within 100 miles of the border.

A bird

I know that eagles are all American and apple pie and stuff. And that it’s illegal to shoot them. But it seems like a offering $17K reward and that the penalty is a $100K fine and a year in jail is a bit much for shooting a bird.

“We’ve probably allowed more guns into the country than guns we’ve stopped”

So says an ATF agent. Yeah, it’s the same reference as below but I thought that warranted a separate post.

Gumption

ATF actually has the balls to ask for more funding in light of their recent colossal screw up. If my presumptions are correct, they were doing this to get more money. And now that they royally screwed it up, that’s another reason to ask for money.

Doing dangerous things is apparently win/win for them.

There ought to be a law

On the local affiliate of Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Radio this morning, I learned that apparently you can make drugs out of bath salts. There was much righteous indignation that, yes, you could actually go into a store and lawfully purchase bath salts. Your right to soften your calloused skin and exfoliate could be under attack by some nanny state ninnies who think if we just ban one more thing, all the drug problems will go away. Or something.

Good news, bad news

At least the FBI got the address right for their raid. Bad news is the person they were looking for hasn’t lived there for two years. This, of course, was very traumatic for the man and his six grand kids.

Odd

Intruder locks self in bathroom, calls cops on homeowner. In other news, people break into homes to take showers?

Lucky Gunner Memorial Day Blogger Shoot

LuckyGunner is putting on an event: Machine guns, training, anti-tank guns, food, 50 cals. And free ammo. I’ll be there.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
