The guy calling for Jihad was an FBI informant. It’s like the 90s except instead of infiltrating militias and talking a hapless bubba into terrorism, it’s hapless Muslims.
Remember the Brady Campaign’s failed attempt at getting Starbucks to prohibit carry at their stores? Well, this will make them cry. Seems a barista violated a no gun policy and used the gun to save himself. Now, the chain is reconsidering their no gun policy.
We’re winning.
Had a few folks ask me to set up email updates*, wherein the blog automagically shoots them an email whenever I update. I’d want it to have a sign up feature. No idea how to do that. Anyone?
Also, I have a facebook page here if you like to keep up that way. And I got one of them Twitters here, if that’s your thing. I still don’t get twitter, btw.
* Personally, I hate email updates but that’s because a whole bunch of other bloggers have signed me up for theirs for some reason. And, for the record, if you do that, I tell GMail you’re spam.
This pic of the N Strike reminded me. My nephew (pictured below with the suppressor) showed me one of his Nerf pistols. It’s identical to one of the nerf guns my kids have. Except that when I fired it, it had a range about 6 times greater than ours and it shot in a straight line. Ours have substantial drop and you have to aim about 5 feet high to hit something 15 feet away. Not his, it zipped along.
He explains to me that he modded it. Turns out, you can replace the springs in it with springs you get at Lowe’s. The also come with a power restricting dampener, that he had removed. And he used duct tape to make the air chamber smaller.
I was so proud. A future gun nut. But I knew that already.
Because suppressors are the polite thing to do.
Imagine a world where cars didn’t have mufflers and everyone had to wear earplugs to drive.
Why restrict a basic safety accessory?
A look a the paperwork and calls to get suppressors removed from the 1934 list of regulated weapons.
And via Sebastian, a Brady board member sounds off on suppressors. Complete with references to gangsters and hitmen. Suppressors, from my reading, were added to the NFA to prevent poaching on federal land. Of course, the original NFA regulated handguns too. Also, she seems surprised that suppressors don’t actually stop bullets. Who knew?
Suppressors also make guns more pleasant to fire and kid-friendly:

Chuck has some survival tips. Never thought about it but I guess it would be nice if the zombie apocalypse happened in winter.
There’s always been rumors about the Hughes amendment not really being passed and added to the 86 Firearms Owners Protection Act. Andrew Vuurwapen notes, through recently released archives, it looks like the votes may not have been there. Doubt there’s any room for recourse.
Federal law enforcement agencies have been tracking Americans in real-time using credit cards, loyalty cards and travel reservations without getting a court order, a new document released under a government sunshine request shows.
Ok, then:
The issue the court assessed was an individual’s Second Amendment rights, but by using this careless language -by writing “the mentally ill” – the justices did a disservice to people living with mental illness.
They lumped them together with felons. Sadly, this was not challenged in the dissent.
The Supreme Court erred and needs to correct that error, because it affects the way our society perceives and treats people living with mental illness.
In response to Camden, NJ laying off police. You’re in Jersey. Good luck with that.
Criminals will just take it from you and use it against you:
Metro police said a pizza delivery driver shot and killed a man who attempted to rob him Friday night.
I really like these guys but I miss their former drummer:
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
