Chicks and guns

Angel gets her wings. Excellent work, Breda.

Nancy R, OC Ambassador: That’s a conversation that never would have happened if I’d been carrying concealed. We’re winning — one at a time.

ATF and guns smuggled into Mexico

It really is a daily feature.

Project Gunrunner tied directly to Obama. Sure it is. But not Fast and Furious, that we know of.

Fast and Furious, however, is actually linked to some higher ups.

And any doubt that this program was designed to promote gun control has now been removed:

Can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same FfL and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks Mark R. Chait Assistant Director Field Operations.

Shutdown

The Minnesota government has been shut down a few weeks. No one noticed until the beer licenses stopped. A possible due process violation?

Miniature firearms

Pretty cool: A do-it-yourself enthusiast from Chita in Siberia, Alexander Perfilyev, has been handcrafting miniature replicas of firearms and other weapons for over 30 years.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

EDWARD MCCLELLAND: The only way to prevent this sort of thing from happening again is to track the weapon back to the gun manufacturer, then burn its factory to the ground.

So much stupid, right there.

Learning

In an update to the AZ senator and her gun handling, someone suggested gun school. Well, she accepted.

Excellent. Firearms training and education is important.

The plan

Linoge and Jacob look at Obama’s gun control plan.

Hysteria

Man with a gun at a mall! Police called. Nothing happens.

He said / she said

Remember when an AZ state senator pointed a gun at a reporter? She tells a different version:

I was asked to show the reporter my weapon so that they could take pictures of it. I ensured that the chamber was clear before displaying the weapon. That is basic gun safety and something that I do instinctively, just like virtually every gun owner.

The photographer, who was behind me at the time, asked me to show him the laser sight and I did so, turning it on and shining it on the wall in front of me (away from the photographer). During this demonstration, the reporter came and sat down in the sofa in front of me, placing himself in the line of the laser sight.

I put bold around the last sentence because the media omits that little bit from it’s reprint of her release for some reason.

Now, who hasn’t shown a gun to someone curious about it? Sure, stop touching it and all. But people do show other people their guns. And I hope the wall she pointed it at was a safe direction.

We’re winning

Obvious statement is obvious:

In every House and Senate election nationwide since 1990, the gun industry and its backers have outspent gun-control advocates by wide margins, according to an Arizona Republic analysis of campaign-finance data compiled by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. In 2010, 66 percent of the gun-rights donations in House races and 88 percent in Senate campaigns went to Republicans.

Because we actually have grassroots and real people. And we put our money where out mouth is. Our opponents prefer to hold their breath until they turn blue.

ATF and guns in Mexico

It’s like a daily feature.

Tam: ATF has announced a plan to cut down on gun smuggling to Mexico. I guess going cold turkey would be too hard.

David Hardy: Did Fast & Furious violate the Arms Export Control Act?

Issa and Grassley’s letter to holder. Interesting. Makes clear the Melson likely isn’t the fall guy.

New rules: The new regulations will require ATF bureaucrats in four border states, California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, to file new reports with themselves each time they illegally send more than 2 high-powered, semi-automatic rifles across the border within a 5 day period. Heh.

Michael Bane: The amazing thing to me is that the administration is sticking to its narrative, e.g. the “Iron River” of guns flowing into into Mexico, even though the “Fast and Furious” Congressional investigation and subsequent revelations have proven conclusively that they only Iron River flowing into Mexico is the one being run by the U.S. government.

I’d expect a drop if ATF stops shipping guns to Mexico

13th straight month of increased gun sales.

NSSF to sue over long gun reporting

Good:

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for America’s firearms industry – announced today that it will file a lawsuit challenging the legal authority of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) under the Gun Control Act to compel 8,500 federally licensed firearms retailers in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas to report the sale of two or more semi-automatic rifles larger than .22 caliber and capable of accepting a detachable magazine that are purchased following an FBI background check by the same individual within five consecutive business days.
