I have issues with the phrase “legalizing” anything.
In a land of liberty you can do pretty much what you want unless it harms another or their property.
Until the “moralist” types criminalize it (make it illegal).
They should be asking for it to be ‘decriminalized’ i.e. “Stop punishing us for doing this”
Asking to “legalize” something is asking for permission.
The difference might be subtle, but I think it’s an important difference in mindset.
One is the position of the citizen, the other the subject.
