Cracks
The Mexican 90% myth gets press coverage. Amazing what a little scandal will do.
Listening to the local talk radio station at lunch yesterday and I heard an ad for CheaperThanDirt.com.
He was, unsurprisingly, a helluva IT guy
Insty has some decent advice for resumes*:
I also was surprised by how many applicants had inappropriate e-mail addresses (e.g., partygirl88@____.com).
Something I have touched on before:
Use an email address that indicates your name, such as firstname.lastname@suchandsuch.com. Not hobbies or sexual innuendo, like darklordofthesith@suchandsuch.com, hotmom69@suchandsuch.com, or ratherbefishing@suchandsuch.com.
It is amazing how often that happens. And it’s not appropriate.
*And, for those who go back and read that post, I have conceded that it’s ok to use resume because résumé doesn’t come across well in a lot of email applications.
I thought the pseudo-finale was good. Spoilers, you were warned.
Five year old ‘attacks’ a police officer. The child is placed in cuffs, put in a police car and charged with battery. Now, I’m not excusing the kid’s behavior. But doesn’t it make more sense to just hold the kid at bay and calm him down?
At least he wasn’t pepper sprayed or tased.
Sheriff Jim Wilson on the full length guide rod:
Somewhere along the line, however, some 1911 manufacturers decided including a full-length guide rod on their pistols gave them a “custom” look. Put three-dot sights and a full-length guide rod on the gun, and you can charge more for it. It’s almost like, if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s even more important to look cool. For goodness sakes, don’t ever ask why.
Even police dogs. Also, it’s a bit unnerving given the increase in police shootings of dogs that the police response to the incident is to talk about what a good dog the out of control animal is and what the dog did in service.
Also, as someone who used to help train police dogs, this dog attacked an 8 year-old and, thankfully, didn’t do a lot of damage. Seems the dog is focused on the sleeve.
Tam and Roberta went. Unsurprisingly, the press account can’t be corroborated by people who were there. Pathetic.
The Sig P290 is getting a new trigger. I handled those at the gun show this past weekend and I did like the size.
I also handled the Diamondback DB9 and liked its feel.
Anyone try either of these?
The case against the pocket 9. I know I don’t need a pocket 9. But I’m basically simplifying my ammo stores. I may even dump my 45s.
Been a theme here lately to show ARs at Wal-Mart. Well, here’s more Sigs at Wal-Mart. Via David who notes No question, “assault rifles” are now “firearms in common use”.
Good question: How did Sen. Feinstein get ATF gun trace data in violation of Tiahrt Amendment?
A bit back, a tea party had their lawful protest and paid taxes on rights err permit fees. The city didn’t charge those fees to the Occupy Whatever folks. So, the Tea Part asked for a refund. Soon after, they get a notice they’re going to be audited.
Details from John. Not sure what to make of it, really, but the case didn’t seem that strong to me.
I am now sans .380. Moving to a pocket 9mm. I have a PM9 as a loner and I like that I can hop on Amazon and order a holster for it.
Holster hasn’t arrived yet so I’ve not got to try out pocket carrying a larger gun. But it handles and feels nice.
Update: Oh and if Glock or the S&W M&P people would start making single stack 9mms, the gun world would thank you.
ACLU Blog: The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
