No calls for that. Doesn’t fit the narrative. Via Insty.

Bloomberg’s Gun Control Announcement

Jacob says one is coming Monday. I tend to agree with his assessment. Mayors Against Guns just did a press release on lack of funding, which is really lack of reporting.

Raging Judge Update

ATF says no to the raging judge and the lever action 410 pistol from Rossi, says Gunblast (at end of video):

Stay tuned. Could be the shotgun ruling? Though not imported.

Update to ATF Shotgun Ruling

Joshua Prince:

I have since learned that the new ruling is going to be akin to the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban, in that, shotguns with bayonet lugs, large capacity magazines…etc or commonly referred to as “evil parts,” will no longer be importable as they have “no sporting purpose.”

Interesting. Is the Saiga sporterized in the US or abroad?

Infiniti Performance Line

I do want to test drive one of these:

We would love see this evolve into something that would go head-to-head with BMW’s M cars or Mercedes AMG line.

They squeezed another 18 or so HP out of the 3.7 and added some sporty upgrades. Looks nice too. Infiniti should drop a twin turbo from the GTR in one of those. That would be slick.

ATF to announce shotgun ruling Monday

Stock up on Saigas?

Today, the ATF announced at the 2011 SHOT Show that a new ruling would be issued on Monday, January 24, 2011, regarding the importability of certain shotguns. ATF informed the audience at the ATF Townhall meeting that they wanted to ensure that they were properly and justly enforcing the requirements of a shotgun being for a “sporting purpose.”

This is definitely concerning given the huge demand for certain shotguns like the Saiga platform, which has seen a noticeable increase in demand. While ATF would not comment on which shotguns will be named in this ruling, I would not be surprised to hear that the Saiga is going to be mentioned in the ruling, given the large capacity magazines and feeding devices that are now available.

Inquiry sad no DD ruling. Curious.

Not sure what’s up with the music though.

More on TSA shaming

Phelps has answers to what I posted earlier. TSA has stopped acting so stupid.

Presenting the views they want

NPR goes looking for someone who is pro-second amendment that will say they support the ban on standard capacity magazines:

We’re looking for a gun owner and 2nd Amendment supporter who is not opposed to the forthcoming McCarthy bill re: magazine capacity.

It’s like they have an agenda or something. Looks like they couldn’t find any so they got a shill instead.

Situational Awareness

Video of woman who falls into a mall fountain. She was texting while walking. She’s now suing, uh, someone for putting the security video online. Says the woman:

Texting while walking, Cruz says, is “dangerous. … I could have been walking into a bus, a car, a ditch, anything. Texting and walking, take it from me, is dangerous. It really is.”

Fortunately for you, you just suffered humiliation and some wet clothes.

Layers of editorial oversight

Remember when the press was all ga-ga over AK-15s? Now, someone is smuggling AR-47s into Mexico:

In the back of the vehicle they found 16 weapons. Ten AR-15’s which is the type of rifle our officers use. 5 AR 47s and high caliber handguns and our understanding was that the weapons were going to be taken into Mexico.”

Thought Police

At UT:

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports proposals include reviewing current policies on derogatory language, encouraging people to report incidents of bias even if they are not criminal, and creating wristbands, T-shirts and slogans to market the campaign for civility.

The report also encourages lectures on civility by prominent administrators, faculty and coaches.

No TSA shaming

Last night, at dinner with some friends, one friend tells me he noticed I haven’t been shaming the TSA lately. He wondered why. Honestly, the horror stories kind of stopped. Which means either TSA has stopped doing such stupid things. Or the press has just stopped covering it. Not a whole lot in the news.

But, of note, is that if you’re an elected congress-weasel, TSA will let you into the secure area so you can harass err campaign for votes.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
