Grab Popcorn

Hawaii’s governor on Obama’s birth certificate:

Abercrombie said the controversy over publicly producing the document “has a political implication for 2012 that we simply cannot have.”

  2. Cargosquid Says:

    I could have sworn that the previous governor stated that he had seen it and was satisfied…..

    And to think, Ambercrombie was trying to help Obama…

    BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  3. Wolfwood Says:

    I like the whole “Um, we can’t actually find it” angle. According to the WND article, neither hospital actually has a record of the birth.

    As absolutely awesome as it would be if the birthers are right, they almost certainly aren’t.

  4. Ellen Says:

    If it is there and accessible, why the fight, for two years and more, against producing it? I’m not a birther, but there’s something wrong about all the stubbornness. At this point, even if they do produce a piece of paper that looks both old and authentic, questions will remain.

  5. Robert Says:

    If the birthers AREN’T right, then why don’t they take the live birth certificate, shove it in their faces and shut them up? Obama’s grandparents lived in Hawaii. They filed for the certificate and the newspaper ran the announcement like they automatically do.
    If the democratic governor of Hawaii, who swore to get to the bottom of this can’t come up with the form…then it isn’t there. And the explanation: “You’re crazy. Shut up!” doesn’t hold much water.

  6. TomcatsHanger Says:

    I’m having a hard time thinking of implications of a birth cert that shows he is a natural citizen.

  7. Gunmart Says:

    It would be a bigger deal if Obama was trying to sign up for the local little league…. and thats just sad.

    *Also not a birther, but lets see the damn thing already.

  8. matt d Says:

    My guess is that the long form birth cert shows a natural born citizen, but with something embarrassing like a religion listed as “Muslim”.

  9. ExurbanKevin Says:

    I think we finally have definite proof of quantum mechanics. We “know” Obama’s birth certificate exists, but we can’t prove its location (or speed).

  10. ExurbanKevin Says:

    Also, according to the former Treasurer of Arizona, if Obama is disqualified from the office, the entire ticket is disqualified. We won’t end up with President “Slow” Joe Biden if the birthers are correct, we’ll have (drumroll, please)…

    President John Boehner.

    with something embarrassing ”

    Or that his father WAS NOT the one described…..

    He does look like Malcom X…..just sayin’ is all…..

    Re: “My guess is that the long form birth cert shows a natural born citizen, but with something embarrassing like a religion listed as “Muslim”.”

    Answer: You are absolutely right that it shows that Obama was born in Hawaii, as the Republican officials and Republican governor of Hawaii have repeatedly said. However, there are no fields in the original birth certificate that could show anything embarrassing. Ther is no place on the original to show the religion of either parent, and certainly not that of the child. There is no place that shows that the parents were married or not married.

    All the facts on the original, such as Obama’s father’s name, Obama’s middle name, etc., are all the same as on the official birth certificate that has been shown. The reason that this is certain is that facts on the official birth certificate was filled in by a clerk looking at the facts on the original birth certificate in the files.

    Then why not show the original, you may ask? Because Hawaii has not sent out copies of the original to anyone, even people born before 2001, since the Certification of Live Birth became the official birth certificate in 2001.

    *Feels there ought to be standards and procedures at _least_ as strenuous getting a passport for getting on the ballot for President.

    **Also feels that everyone with a franchise here in the United States has legal standing to demand in court, proof of someone’s eligibility to serve as President.

    ***Also, doesn’t want to see “President Biden” anytime, for any reason.

    Does that make me a “Birther”?

    I like how the only response to a legitimate, rational question raised by intellectually honest people is to give them a perjorative label. And now those same people are ashamed to be “birthers”.

    Person A asks question of Person B. Person B calls Person A a Bleep for asking that question. Person A is now ashamed to be known as a Bleep, and question remains unanswered. Brilliant!

    HONOLULU — Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie will end his quest to prove President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii because it’s against state law to release private documents, his office said Friday.

    Perhaps if it were more often couched in the form of a question demanding an answer than an accusation requiring rebuttal…

  21. SPQR Says:

    When those that question Obama’s birth circumstances create convoluted and ridiculous narratives as many of them do, and then couple them with equally silly legal theories, they are asking to be ridiculed.

  22. Crotalus Says:

    None of this will mean a damn thing. The Dems already got their man in, and they will not give it up just because that silly old constitution says so. And the Repubs will not pursue it. The Constitution means nothing to either party.

  23. Cargosquid Says:

    Want to watch EVERYONE go nuts?

    Now its time to “accuse” him of “not finding it on purpose” because its embarrassing to the President. He has to “prove” that its not there…..

    BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  24. Granite1 Says:

    Those who claim that Obama was not born in Hawaii tend to focus on whether or not the official birth certificate shown by Obama is authentic (It is, it was not forged) and sufficient (It is, it is the official and only birth certificate that Hawaii has issued since 2001 and it has been repeatedly confirmed by Republican officials).

    But there is another side to the question. For there to be a reasonable story that Obama was not born in the USA required BOTH proof that the Hawaii documents and confirmations are false AND a reasonable story that Obama was born outside of the USA.

    Those who claim that Obama was not born in Hawaii (birthers for short) almost always claim that the place where Obama was born was Kenya, and that his mother was visiting her husband’s relatives in 1961 when Obama was born.

    This often tends to be based on the allegation that Obama’s Kenyan grandmother had said that she was present when Obama was born in Kenya. But, in fact, Obama’s Kenyan grandmother never said any such thing. She said repeatedly in the taped interview that Obama was born in HAWAII, where his father was studying at the time. And, she said in another interview that the first that her family had heard of Obama’s birth was in a letter from Hawaii.

    In addition to the grandmother not saying that Obama was born in Kenya (nor did any other relative), there is the absence of official birth documents from Kenya (except for obvious forgeries). Birthers claim that this is explained by the Kenyan government sealing and hiding Obama’s documents. But this explanation requires faith in the Kenyan government being so efficient that not only was it able to hide every document, but that it has successfully hidden the fact that it was even hiding documents. The latter seems quite a stretch given that divided governments tend to leak, and that complete efficiency in hiding files from such experts as the CIA (which surely would have investigated) plus foreign diplomats, plus journalists and freelance journalists seems extremely improbable.

    For Obama to have been born in any other country than the USA requires the combination of:

    (1) Travel by his mother during late pregnancy (highly unlikely because of the high expense and high risk of such a trip in 1961. A round trip to Kenya for two has been estimated to have cost around $20,000 in 2010 terms, and there was high risk of stillbirth, and of Yellow Fever in Kenya [a Yellow Fever shot itself is risky during pregnancy]);

    (2) Birth outside of Hawaii (also unlikely);

    (3) Birth abroad despite the absence of any foreign documents or photographs showing either that Obama was born in a foreign country or that his mother was in the country at the time (highly unlikely);

    (4) The willingness of the parents to lie about his place of birth (unlikely since it would be a crime to file a false government document, and the lie would be unnecessary since for most purposes naturalizing a foreign-born child would be just as good as his being born in the country);

    (5) Successfully smuggling the child into the USA without a US travel document (extremely unlikely), and;

    (6) Convincing the officials in Hawaii that he was born in Hawaii (also extremely unlikely).

    ALL of these six things would be required for there to be a reasonable case that he was born in any other country than the USA. What are the odds of all six of them happening?

    The willingness to believe that Obama was born outside of the USA despite the overwhelming odds against it and despite all the evidence that he was born in Hawaii is why Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly all call birthers crazy.

    Which is more important, property rights or gun rights? does a land owner have the right to bar me from owned land if I am armed?

    Which is more important, the birth location of our current ELECTED president, or the votes that elected him?

    My current thoughts about the governor of Hawaii are that I believe he figured out a great way to distract people back to a useless, stupid topic so as to obscure issues of greater importance.

    oh, and If I hear anything more about our president’s *secret* religion, I reserve the right to scream.

    Could get pretty interesting if a few states require long form BC before putting their name on the 2012 ballot.

    I think some states are working on the law.

  27. Granite1 Says:

    Re: long form BCs NO state will require a long form BCs because many if not most states have already adopted short form BCs and have issued ONLY short-form BCs for years. In other words, in many states many people have only short-form BCs because it was their original and only BCs, and in other states although they once had long form BCs, they have only issued short-form BCs for years.

  28. Granite1 Says:

    My posting in 27 should read:

    Re: long form BCs.

    NO state will require a long form BCs because many if not most states have already adopted short form BCs and have issued ONLY short-form BCs for years. In other words, in many states many people have only short-form BCs because it was their original and only BC, and in other states although they once had long form BCs, they have only issued short-form BCs for years.

    Let me add that I have looked at most proposed state and federal bills and as far as I can recall, all of them either simply say “a birth certificate” or the official birth certificate. I am not aware of one that specifies the long-form birth certificate. However, if there were such a bill, it is highly unlikely to pass without being changed from the long-form to the official birth certificate because, as I said, some states only issue short-form birth certificates.

    Its all about the Library …. the Obama Library.

    I’ll bet in 2 years, Hawaii will change its law so that the Obama Library can house the infamous birth certificate.

    Its all about money boys and girls and socialists knew how to steal it best.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
