Ruger’s New 22/45

Now with threaded barrel. I’ve been pondering a new 22 pistol. It’s this or the Buckmark. Folks seem to like their 22/45s but I hate that they come with magazine disconnect safeties and annoying loaded chamber indicators. Thoughts?

NAACP supports self-defense?

Black man allegedly wrongly convicted for self-defense in shooting a white man:

In 2005, John McNeil rushed to the aid of his son who had been threatened in the family’s backyard by Brian Epp with a knife. When McNeil arrived on the scene, Epp charged toward him. McNeil pulled his gun and fired a warning shot into the ground. But Epp kept coming until McNeil ended the situation with a single shot to the head. In 2006, McNeil was convicted of felony murder despite a police investigation that found the shooting to be self defense, eye witness testimony backing up that claim, and character witnesses testifying to the ill-temper of Epp.

NAACP wants to know where the gun rights activists are. Probably, like most people, they haven’t heard of the case. It’s not burning up the news feeds, and only a few mentions.

Of course, I wonder where the NAACP has been on civil rights for a while. Seems they have worked against them.

In West Virginia

A suit saying a city’s ban of carry on city property is unconstitutional.

The coming 1099 mess

This will be an undue burden on taxpayers and filers.

The anti-NRA

That’s what they call the Joyce Foundation. Which is true. They are anti civil rights and have no grassroots and that’s about as opposite from NRA as you can get.

Holster Review: The Executive

Some smart cracker has a review of a holster used for both pocket and IWB carry.

Maff

The math says registration won’t work. Ask Canada.

I gotta get some of those

High velocity clips. All of mine are regular velocity.

Watching the watchmen

Man acquitted on charges of recording TSA. In other news, that’s a crime.

Smuggling guns into the UK

Man arrested for smuggling handguns overseas. On passenger flights. TSA didn’t manage to stop him.

Knife Porn

From Robert.

A bit ironic

The company who makes one of the drugs used in lethal injections is going to stop making it. So:

Some states have already been forced to seek alternative supplies of sodium thiopental abroad, including illicitly from British companies, in order to carry out executions because of a shortage of the anaesthetic after production was stalled by the lack of a key ingredient.

The state going to the black market for drugs. Heh.

Let the states go bankrupt

I agree but I’m selling my muni bonds:

They should go bankrupt. I’m looking forward to it.

There are three possibilities — bankruptcy or bailouts or ruinous taxations. Of the three, bankruptcy is the one that makes the most sense because it’s the one that conveys the most accurate knowledge — which is that they’ve run out of money and couldn’t cover all the promises they made.

The trouble with pie in the sky promises to be all things to all people is that eventually the bill comes due.

The smartphone goes to war

To plot artillery fire. There’s an app for that.

Dragon Leatherworks talon Review

Another from Robb of the offering from Dragon Leatherworks. I’ll have more later but I’ve worn mine around for a couple of days. I like it.

Isn’t that a crime?

Court holds officer’s testimony not credible since it was contradicted by the dashboard camera of that officer saying something else. And people wonder why I have recording devices in my vehicle.

The internet: Bringing people far away together

Or, you know, using people who are far away to help you find someone in the same room. Heh.

Awesome

Via, well, everybody comes the ultimate computer den. And John asked if this was JayG’s house. Also, the caption mentions an anti-aircraft gun. There’s not one in the pic that I can see.

In Cali

Formal injunction issued against enforcement of ammo ban.

Deal Alert

Mosins from Cabela’s for $90.

New gun round up

Mossberg Turkey Thug, seems to be an unfortunate name.

Glock 21 4th Generation is here

Folks are still excited about the Chiappa Rhino, which I never really got. But, as Les explained yesterday at lunch, this is the first time something new has happened to the revolver in a billion years.

WW2 Three Gun Match. Heh.

Everyone stops in Knoxville eventually

I just had lunch with Steve from The Firearm Blog, who probably traveled further than any one I’ve had lunch with. Les Jones and some other local yokels were there too.

Lying about terrorists to get funding

Sheriff lies about terrorists group to score some sweet, sweet funding.

A good use for a gun safe

To hold your kids’ Hello Kitty and Cars magnets:

From Drop Box

And alphabet blocks too!

By the way, in my house that is known as The Bureau. You see, on top of my safe is my humidor and to the left is my beer fridge. So, it’s the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Apparently shooting your friend in the face qualifies you to endorse gun control

Gun Law Brain Teaser

Is a robot programmed to fire a semi-auto as fast as possible a machine gun?

How to deal with active shooters

The NYPD would like it’s unarmed citizens to hide behind filing cabinets and use staplers as weapons when there’s an active shooter. I’m guessing a 9mm would go through most filing cabinets. May have to test that. Jacob asks:

If ever in a SHTF scenario which would you rather have immediately available:

1. Quality office furniture
2. A Swingline Collectors Edition 747 Rio Red Business Stapler
3. A firearm

That’s no choice at all. In NYC.

Gun laws were tougher in old Tombstone

We knew that already. Yet we still hear claims about turning some place into the wild west whenever we liberalize gun laws.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
