Quote of the Day

workinwifdakids in comments:

I cannot believe we’re actually sitting here talking about how to buy black-market light bulbs.

There is something horribly wrong with this country.

Yup.

Lying to win

Roll your own

Make your own canned bacon.

Receipt Check

Cop records himself at Wal-Mart. Remember, stores cannot legally detain you if you decline a receipt check.

“The 1911 Sucks”

Over at Yankee Gun Nuts: an old design that is more trouble than it is worth.

People ask me where I come down on the whole 1911 is an old design thing. I like them. I like to shoot them. They’re one of my favorite handguns. I would not carry one.

First they came for the sex offenders

Sex offender registries: They’re not just for sex offenders anymore.

The expanding list of crimes that label one a sex offender is ridiculous. Sexting, for instance. These registries are expensive but are overloaded with useless information. The neighbor’s kid got fined for peeing in public is treated the same as the baby-raper.

Aww, nothing like their first AR.

That is one expensive Walther.

Someone should make one

My car has an intelligent key. It’s a fob with buttons and such. Anyway, my car can sense when I am around and I can just press a button on the door when I’m near it and it will open. Why don’t they make an app for your phone that does that? Then I can carry one less thing.

California bans Easy Bake Ovens

Well, OK, actually they banned 100 watt bulbs. Which power Easy Bake Ovens. Speaking of, last night me and Junior used her new Easy Bake Oven to make some cookies. They were as good anything I’ve ever cooked with a light bulb.

If you’re a parent and you don’t have a supply of 100w incandescent bulbs, you’ll need one for the oven. It doesn’t come with one. And congress banned their sale. Fortunately, we managed to store up some pre-ban light bulbs.

Holiday Cheer

Hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas. This year’s theme for me was kitchen stuff. The wife got me all manner of kitchen doodads. Two of note that I’m playing with. I got a Coopers Micro Brew Kit and my first batch is brewing now. I’ll tell you how it goes.

And I got a dehydrator. I’ve so far made beef jerky, fruit roll ups and dried some apples. It’s pretty cool. I loved the jerky and the kids like the fruits. I’ve ordered the Dehydrator Bible for more ideas. The directions and recipes that came with it are a little lacking.

Rules 1 & 2

Graphic pics of a guy who shot himself in the hand with his XD while disassembling the gun. Remember, taking out a magazine does not mean it’s unloaded.

How dare you point out our inadequacies

A pilot shows how dumb TSA and airline security is. They make flight crews go through the checkpoints but ground crews do not. He posts the videos online to show how dumb the rules are. And six armed men (federal air marshals and local deputies) raid his house, take his guns, and his state concealed carry permit. All for pointing out the .gov’s stupidity.

Mind you, this guy was licensed to carry a firearm on a plane.

Area man

Nebraska man arrested for hate crime following confrontation on King County Metro bus

That’s interesting. The “Nebraska man” said:

“In my country, we kill faggots,” and “I’m going to (sic) suicide, and everybody is going down with me; I’m not going alone.”

And the “Nebraska man” is named Mustaf A. Abdille. Doesn’t sound like a “Nebraska man” to me at all.

Get what you pay for

The Violence Policy Center has raised $0 dollars and has no donors. I wonder if it’s because Josh Sugarmann spends all his time bleating about the pointy things in the NRA catalog instead of, you know, something.

Oleg has some pics of the pocket 9 here and here.

And here’s a range report.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

Advocating that possession of a gun should mean the death penalty. No doubt, a reasonable restriction.

Mr. C in the gun biz

Cool: Mr. C. to Import OKO Red Dot Sights for USA. And he’s opened up his own shooters supply shop.

Traver stalled

No vote. Could be a recess appointment though.

Merry Christmas

BTW, I put this on FB then realized my kid’s babysitters and gymnastics teachers were ‘friends’. I need to re-think this friending teenagers thing. Sure, they’ve heard worse but not from me

Happy Festivus

Blogging will be sporadic for the next several days. Stuff to do, gifts to assemble, food to cook. All of that.

You and yours have a merry Christmas. Or whatever holiday you do or don’t celebrate. And, you know, you should really watch what you eat and maybe get some exercise while you’re at it.

Little help

Remember the Houston jewelry store owner who shot and killed the three robbers who tied up his wife? Apparently, he needs some help with his medical bills because he’s uninsured. You can give here.

He took four hits and survived. The robbers didn’t survive.
