Bear Trap

Beekeeper accidentally shot by his bear trap.

Acting at your peril

Oleg on the stupidity of NFA rules: if my friend and I accidentally swap sound suppressors of the same exact make, model and caliber after a range session, we’d be committing felonies.

Uhm, if you have to ask

Is Obama’s choice for ATF chief an ‘antigun zealot’?

A feat

Man with no arms shoots a handgun. And reloads.

Interesting

Brady Campaign withdraws Texas brief.

Booger-hook, bang-switch problem

Hey it worked

Calling someone acting like a socialist a socialist got them to change their mind.

TSA Shaming

The leader of the free world is cool with the world not being free:

President Barack Obama on Saturday acknowledged some travelers’ “frustrations” with having to go through full-body pat-downs and scans at airports, but he said the enhanced security measures are necessary to keep America safe.

They’re not keeping us safe. They’re keeping us annoyed.

It’s great that Boehner is flying commercial. But walking past the security lines and around metal detectors? Like you and me, only better.

Someone who actually knows about security says TSA won’t stop anyone. It’s not about stopping anyone. It’s about appearances.

TSA will kill people!

They will ding a ding dang your dang a long ling long.

Musical interlude

A friend of mine once said that what metal is to rock, bluegrass is to country. He’s probably right since I like Bluegrass and mostly hate country. And bluegrass covers are awesome:

I don’t know that the gourds are really bluegrass though.

At urban dictionary

Gate Rape. TSA hits another internet meme.

You know how I know you don’t know what you’re doing?

TSA takes nail clippers from soldiers? Soldiers who are armed with guns.

I like my cars the same way like I like my guns

Illegal in California.

Been looking into engine, exhaust and intake modifications to the Tactical Car because, well, I like to tinker, go fast, and offset two Priuses (Priusi?). I’d like to drop a Stillen Supercharger in it but those are 1) expensive and 2) void your warranty. But 515hp would be fun.

So far, I’m leaning toward either a popcharger or some other cold air intake. And a catback exhaust. These offer pretty small gains but don’t hose the warranty. Not sure if the MREV and plenum spacer would affect the warranty, so probably not gonna go that route.

Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Or should I go with a z tube?

Not appealing

In Wisconsin, a ban on concealed carry was struck down as unconstitutional. The state will not appeal the ruling.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

Brady Campaign endorsed John Myers, who has sponsored gun control bills. He also has a bit of a checkered past:

The most extensive arrest record the AP search turned up belonged to Rep. John Myers, D-Philadelphia. His only conviction was a February 1987 guilty plea to having an unlicensed .38-caliber handgun, with an obliterated serial number, concealed in his vehicle, according to court records. He was sentenced to 15 months’ probation.

Myers also was charged in Philadelphia with assault with intent to kill in 1972, and marijuana possession in 1980, but both cases were dismissed. He was accused of shooting at someone in Philadelphia in 1981, but was acquitted.

And this guy is now a PA rep.

Bitter clinger

Dennis Henigan clings to the collective rights mythology:

In two landmark Second Amendment cases — District of Columbia v. Heller in 2008 and this year’s McDonald v. Chicago — the Supreme Court struck down local handgun bans as violations of a newly-discovered constitutional right to possess guns “for the defense of hearth and home,” as Justice Scalia put it in Heller.

Newly discovered? That’s a lie.

“It’s a free country”

No it’s not. Stop saying that.

Daily TSA shaming

Heh.

Another TSA shirt.

A picture is worth a thousand words. At least he doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it.

What we do instead of something: We’ve been dealing with the same threats for decades. But we used to be a lot calmer about it, less self-defeating

Revolt against the TSA.

Airport to opt out of TSA.

Do you realize that the search one gets before entering a maximum security prison (one of the most secure on the east coast) is less invasive than the one you get before you fly?

America’s third war?

No. More like Texas’ only war.

In the police state

NY:

A squad of cops in bulletproof vests swooped into an upper Manhattan park and charged seven men with the “crime” of playing chess in an area off-limits to adults unaccompanied by kids — even though no youngsters were there.

Nothing better to do, I guess.

New pistol sights

Not that new, really. But Borepatch looks at the opti-sight.

Good idea
