TN Gun Bill

Tom Humphrey lets us know that on the senate’s calendar for today is SB578. This bill would allow those with handgun carry permits to carry loaded rifles and shotguns in their vehicles.

This year’s SayUncle Creativity in Guns Award goes to

Billll for his pedal-powered air gun. Ok, then.

Pick me a holster

Looking at a concealed carry holster for the Para 1911. I want an Inside the Waistband model. Based on past reading and experience, I’m looking at the CrossBreed SuperTuck, Blade-Tech Ultimate Concealment Holster, and the Comp-Tac’s come highly recommended.

Six Drops

When I was at the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation match, Chris from Glock offered to inspect my Glock 30. He completely disassembled it and then told me that it looked fine but that I put too much oil in it. On a Glock, there are basically four places I would oil. The four rails on the frame where the slide connects to the frame. And the rails on the slide. I would always run a bead down all six rails. That’s apparently too much. One drop on each rail. And on the slide, place a drop at the top then set the slide upright and let gravity drip the oil down the length of the slide.

Oh teh noes – selling lawful products

A gun shop in Spokane has the local gun-fearing wussy contingent up in arms. Well, not really. I mean, being gun-fearing they probably don’t have arms. But, regardless, they’re not amused by a sign that advertises they sell guns, ammo, silencers, and grenade launchers.

Wanda Sykes wants Rush Limbaugh’s kidneys to fail; just like Wanda Sykes’ TV shows

Ya know, Wanda Sykes is usually funny. I liked her shows. They were funny. Unfortunately, I was one of the only people who thought that. But the kidney and terrorist jokes were not funny.

And the truth in a joke: Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me.

While we’re discussing things easy to make fun of, I don’t understand why it’s a big deal for Obama to put Dijon mustard on a burger. Nor why people are getting bent out of shape for mocking the mustard.

Gun battle in Montana

Montana recently passed a law stating that guns made in and kept in the state are not subject to federal gun laws. This was done to create legal challenges. The AP has a look:

Still, much bigger prey lies in Montana’s sights: a legal showdown over how far the federal government’s regulatory authority extends.

[…]

Under the new law, guns intended only for Montana would be stamped “Made in Montana.” The drafters of the law hope to set off a legal battle with a simple Montana-made youth-model single-shot, bolt-action .22 rifle [otherwise known to the press an an “assault weapon” – ed]. They plan to find a “squeaky clean” Montanan who wants to send a note to the ATF threatening to build and sell about 20 such rifles without federal dealership licensing.

If the ATF tells them it’s illegal, they will sue and take the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, if they can.

Gun ‘facts’

An Accompanying Sea of Disinformation

Gun sales

Ruger’s Q1 reports: Firearm sales up 55%, production up 69%, but not keeping pace with demand, backorders are up to nearly half a million firearms. And “we hear anecdotally from retailers that a significant portion of their customers are new and often buying their very first firearm.”

A report on the increase in gun sales due to fears of the Obama administration.

Steve doesn’t get the side mounted sights for an AR. Handy for some competition. And I’ve seen them used as back up/CCB sights on scoped AR-15s.

Also, some didn’t get the charging handle for a Glock. Hand for race guns that have scopes mounted on the top.

All guns are always loaded

With real bullets:

Police said a Michigan concealed weapons teacher accidentally shot a student in the face during a demonstration.

The teacher told investigators he thought the gun was loaded with plastic bullets.

Thankfully, injuries are non life threatening.

Cashiers Checks

Closing today. We refinanced (4.5% for 15 years, if you must know). As part of the closing, I have to take a cashiers check. Well, they’ve run every financial stress test on me they can and I’m more liquid than Bank of America, which isn’t saying much. They know what I got, where it’s at, and where it’s coming from. Why not just take, say, my check. They know I have it. I have to make an extra stop and pay a fee now.

I ought to just show up with a few thousand in one dollar bills to see what happens.
