Gun Buybacks

Kinda funny that an anti-gun activist is turning in a gun at a gun buyback. And won’t address if he has anymore.

Meanwhile, a paper in Oakland reports that a gun buyback: caused heavy traffic in East, West and Central Oakland as people pulled up at buyback locations with trunk loads of assault weapons.

Well, if you look at the picture, can you see trunk loads of assault weapons?

Awesome

Greatest gift wrap ever!

An admission

Good to see Paul Helmke admit that he thinks community policy trumps personal liberty.

Again

More on Tennessee’s Ammo Registration Bill

Over at 454Monte, there’s some contact info. Word I hear is will get laughed at in committee.

Registry

Mike emails this bit from the Commercial Appeal’s Wendi C. Thomas. It’s pretty ripe with your typical PSH but this stuck out:

For every 10 people in America, there are nine guns.

Well, one in ten people are slacking

Some of these guns are in the possession of police and the military, but the majority aren’t in the hands of registered gun owners.

There’s no such thing as a registered gun owner. To create such a registry would be illegal.

Rockin

Not only is there a band called Mr. Completely, there’s also a band called Say Uncle.

The two remaining presidential candidates in the Democrat party did not affix their name to the brief filed in support of a right to bear arms.

VA Protests follow up

A letter in response:

Please consider this a response to the letter (“Abusive Bullies Marred Gun-Control Rally,” Feb. 4).

You are correct, sir, in that gun owners of Virginia would never approve of rude tactics, so thank you for giving credit where credit is due. As a respectful leader in the campaign for self-protection rights, I know that none of my colleagues were inconsiderate, and would want to know if anyone acted otherwise.

As such, I scoured the numerous videos on YouTube, and from the media that day, but cannot find anything to substantiate your claim. Next, I turned to the infamous social network, Facebook. To my amazement, I could not find a single group related to gun-control that allowed discussions.

Supporters of gun-rights gathered to hear speeches by the gun-control organizations, listening quietly and holding their own signs. Amazingly, one of the speakers asked the police if they could remove the viewing citizens from the public grounds of the Capitol, namely the gun-rights advocates. One comment relayed to me following that was “we don’t want you here with your signs, peaceful or not. This is our media attention and you don’t belong.”

What media bias?

ABC news thinks it’s newsworthy to point out that it’s an election year err no one is calling out for more gun control in light of recent shootings:

In light of recent high-profile shootings, Friday’s World News with Charles Gibson featured a report that seemed to lament the absence of public calls for additional gun control. While not directly advocating new gun laws, the report cited statistics often used by those who support gun control. Before correspondent Pierre Thomas cited a poll showing 60 percent of Americans “favor stricter gun control laws,” Gibson introduced the piece: “Well, there are 230 million guns in America. There are more guns than there are adults. In the past incidents, like the one in Kirkwood, would rekindle debate over gun control. But as ABC’s Pierre Thomas reports, gun control advocates are now mostly silent.”

This bit was interesting:

Thomas relayed that those who oppose gun control are more likely to voice their views

Or, you know, there’s just more of us.

Summing it up

From The Daily Show on Romney (paraphrased): The Romney campaign never recovered from the fact that Romney is a douchebag.

More on the Heller brief

NRA has a list of congresscritters supporting the good guys. For those who asked, McCain is on there. And so are all of my Reps. Thanks, guys.

Update: and Cheney? So, have he and Bush had a talk about the Dept. of Justice?

Update 2: NRA has a statement on the Cheney thing:

On behalf of four million NRA members and 80 million American gun owners, we would like to thank Vice President Dick Cheney for his strong support of the individual rights view of the Second Amendment. Today, in his capacity as President of the United States Senate, Vice President Cheney signed on to the congressional amicus curiae brief affirming the individual rights view of the Second Amendment. As Americans, we are grateful and fortunate to have a friend of freedom in the Vice President.

What is a combat handgun?

Discussion here. Ya know, the Joint Combat Pistol for the military pops up about once every six months and nothing seems to happen, other than Glock coming out with the 21SF.

EBR sales to go up

So, it looks as though congress has voted to buy votes with money borrowed from the people they’re giving it back to. Or something. Anyway, it’s a bunch of crap. Regardless, KDT is advocating those that get some bling back go buy an Evil Black Rifle.

Oops

I saw this yesterday and forgot about it. Heh:

CeaseFire Maryland…failed to file the corporate personal property returns as required by state law.

So by law, they forfeited the state charters of both that name and also Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse, which were promptly picked up and registered by pro-RKBA activists. It also upsets a gubernatorial appointment to the Maryland Handgun Roster Board.

lame

According to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership, handgun carry permit holders might be poachers.

Another Gun Bill

HR4900: the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act is the latest attempt by Congress to reign in that agency that seems to want to put its customers out of business.

Thanks

I’d like to thank The Tennessean, The Roanoke Times and others for the fact that South Carolina is likely making it’s handgun carry permit records off limits.

A victory for the right to privacy.

Note that the article is written by a blog entitled Common Sense Journalism but the author doesn’t seem to use any and advocates against the law citing journalist’s need. Perhaps he’s unclear on the term need. But, honestly, if alleged journalists hadn’t been irresponsible and published lists (one even comparing permit holders to sex offenders), I doubt SC would be passing this law.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
