Like you and me, only better

With a hint of unpossible

Actor Dennis Farina was caught at an airport in Los Angeles with a gun in his bag. This would be illegal in LA, of course. He was also, presumably, on his way home to Chicago, where having the gun would also be illegal.

But no felony charges filed.

Laws are for little people.

Morality

Interesting poll.

Ten Times the Reasoned Discoursetm

So, The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership now uses their blog to do quicker posts. Kinda like they’re getting the whole blogging thing.

Seems that someone at Brady noticed that they had no web-fu. This point was made at the NRA convention too. Of course, we know that’s because they have no real grassroots.

Robb points out that they simply can’t hang as a community website and, of course, have no comments feature. They continue to intentionally mislead and offer no opportunity for discussion. After all, they got tired of being the best source for pro-gun information on the internet.

BTW, since Brady is doing this to generate some Google Fu, I used tinyurl:

Pass it on.

Beretta.

Knife laws

They’re kinda random and dumb.

Guy arrested in Atlanta for having a knife with a blade that is too long. He had a permit to carry the pistol on his hip but, dammit, a blade over three inches lands you in jail.

After lawyering up, charges were dropped.

Mission unpossible

Another shooting in London?

Speaking of Mediocre Britain, an anti-gun activist has been stabbed to death.

Cannon, 200 illegal firearms, and explosives in Germany.

Down the memory hole

The God Not Guns shill blog from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership has taken down another post. Not the first time. I guess whenever she says something really fucking stupid, it just goes away. How Christian.

And the blog linked yesterday completely disappeared. Well, I did ask them to leave the internet.

Strapped

Handgun carry permits up in Tennessee.

Quote of the day

ATF Special Agent William G. McMahon on NYC’s destroying of confiscated firearms:

We hope the steel mills use them to manufacture products for legitimate industries

Now, I realize context is everything but it sounds like a guy who works for a .gov agency that regulates an industry doesn’t think that industry is legitimate?

Update: More here.

My mom’s gonna kill me (but not with a gun)

In Montana:

During a question and answer session before seniors and other supporters at the Yellowstone County Council on Aging Office Friday morning, Chelsea said, “We also need to do more with gun control. And my mom supports- naturally what she supported in New York. Which is: we have different gun control laws in New York City than we do in upstate New York.”

And there goes all that work to appear pro gun that nobody was buying any way. And later in the same piece:

Kennedy introduced Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton before her speech in Billings on Tuesday night, where he said that Senator Clinton would protect Montanans Second Amendment rights.

The former First Daughter as standard practice does not do interviews with the media, so the News Station’s Aaron Flint was unable to ask Chelsea Clinton a follow up question regarding the remarks.

I guess that’s in case, like now, she didn’t get the memo on what to say.

Consistency: A fine quality in house paint but for Federal agencies, it’s useless

Speaking of acting at your peril.

A new ruling from ATF classifies the FNC upper as the firearm. This is odd because on quite a few weapons (AK or AR) it’s the lower receiver that is considered the firearm. On others (FN SCAR and FAL) it’s the upper receiver.

CavArms is up and running

Jed has the skinny:

While we are waiting for this situation to be resolved, Cavalry Arms will remain open for business and continue operations to the best of our ability. Since we were unable to get a decision on the manufacturing variance we had asked for, we arranged for (at great difficulty and expense) and rented the equipment necessary to resumed production of the CAV-15 at our licensed premises. Receivers and rifles and have begun shipping again to fill back orders. Production of firearms, firearm accessories and medical kits will continue uninterrupted throughout this situation. With the return of our computers, we are working on reconstituting our resources. Our business situation is more normal and stable than it was directly after the search and seizure.

Good.

More from ATF

Caught lying!

More stellar performance!

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

Naomi Campbell arrested for assaulting a police officer. And she wants you disarmed.

Ok, I’ll call you crazy

I’m going to have to ask you to leave the internet. You’re just too stupid.

Summing up an anti-gunner’s thoughts: What gets me is that if you allow people to carry weapons into our national treasures, what is to stop the bad guy from doing the same; and then the escalation starts

In the paper

Ahh, ninjas!

How to be an elite team fighter.

I have no comment.

Concealed carry in NYC

Ya know, if these off duty cops keep shooting criminals in NYC, someone might start thinking concealed carry works.

But remember, the AR sucks!

Michael Williamson:

But you have to admit, if the AR-15 was really successful, you’d be able to get it from 40 different manufacturers, in .22, .222, .223, .224, .243, 7.62X39, .308 and .338 Lapua (in variants) 9mm, .40, .45, .50 BMG, several wildcat chamberings, as a pistol, carbine or rifle, clip fed, box fed, drum fed or belt fed, with barrels from 7″ to 24″, with dozens of sling combinations, fixed or folding stocks in a dozen lengths, with accessories like scopes, HUD sights, grenade launchers, bi pods, rail mounts, alternate bolt and trigger groups. It would win hundreds of competitions, be used by dozens of militaries and elite units, SWAT teams and commando units, be available as cheap as $450, have hundreds of smiths specializing in working on it and be readily available at any gun store.

Democrats and guns

The Other Paper

“There has been a recognition nationally that the party’s stance on gun control was polarizing and it was damaging the ability of the Democratic party to exercise leadership on things like health care, education and the environment,” the governor said.

“The leadership at national level decided they were no longer going to make gun control a major position embraced by the national party,” he said. “But there are individuals who continue to push such an agenda.”

More ATF Woes

Continuing their record of stellar performance.

Oops, sorry:

The director of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has written to U.S. Rep. Bill Sali to say he’s sorry about the way the agency handled the Idaho Republican’s inquiry into a training slogan.

Last week, Sali accused ATF of offering misleading accounts of how the federal agency ended its use of the “Always Think Forfeiture” training slogan, which had angered some Second Amendment activists who thought it reflected a bias against law-abiding gun owners.

“I apologize for any confusion our response may have caused you or your staff,” wrote Michael Sullivan, the acting director of the agency, adding that he hoped his letter would give “a clearer picture of the sequence of events surrounding this issue.”

The dispute began when Sali claimed credit for ATF’s decision to stop engraving “Always Think Forfeiture” on Leatherman pocket tools handed out to trainees. But the bureau had already decided in March to stop using the phrase after other members of Congress complained.

Oh, we were just confused that the term Always Think Forfeiture meant, uh, Always Think Forfeiture. Glad that’s cleared up.

Via David, who says: Honesty is not something you should have to hope for. It’s something honorable men and women demand of themselves.

More anti-gun astroturf

This time, they’re bringing in the God squad!

I hopped over there to check out the reasoned discoursetm. This post on the idolatry of the gun is amusing. It’s not amusing because of all the bearing false witness with statements like representatives refuse to regulate guns as consumer products, which I guess is like sinning for the cause, eh, reverend? It’s because she says that the gun seduces with false power and teases with illusive security. And that is particularly amusing when it’s her sort that believe these idols cause death and mayhem all by themselves. These evil idols cause evil all by themselves! Guns are the devil!!!!

I wonder if the good reverend can exorcise the evil spirits out of guns?

Update: Speaking of anti-gun reverends

Update 2: She has exorcised her blog post: Down the memory hole!

AWB push

Count the lies and misrepresentations at CBS news.

Let’s see:

Did not ban possession

Actually, The National Institute of Justice could not “clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s recent drop in gun violence.”

I possess several weapons that look like assault weapons and I pose a danger to no one.

Hey, teachers, leave those kids alone

Disenfranchised

Ouch!

BTW, are the Democrats embarrassed yet?

Give it up

Sebastian is correct, most people don’t really care about the whole gay cooties issue. KAG, noting everything happening today, can’t believe that the one issue some people pick is gay marriage.

Quote of the Day

In a post about Barack Hanson Obama’s book that Kevin is reading so I don’t have to spit hopechangefaith allover myself, comes this wonderful quote from Scalia:

What in the world is a ‘moderate interpretation’ of the text? Halfway between what it really says and what you want it to say?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
