Speaking of the debate

Seen on the internet: “I couldn’t understand the debate. It was all in Spanish and communism.”

I didn’t watch the debate

But the Dems want to ban guns. And they lie to do it.

Interesting data

Causes of death: actual v. coverage.

A civil rights victory

Constitutional carry comes to Kentucky.

Pepperidge Farm Remembers

Happy to report that my favorite new gun blog is back with a FAL circa 1982.

More on the NRA’s issues

Here’s about as thorough a summary as I’ve seen.

Court challenge to the NFA

Based on tax law:

Several years ago, Nick Bronsozian was charged with possession of an unregistered machinegun under a tax law statute. The provision in question, 26 U.S.C. 5861(d), says that in order to have a machinegun registered, a tax must be paid on it. Simple enough, right? Bronsozian didnt pay his tax. Case closed. Thats what the government argued anyway, but the situation is more complicated than that.

A subsequently enacted law, 18 U.S.C. 922(o), prevents the government from registering and accepting tax payments on new machineguns. So Bronsozian was charged and convicted of a felony for not paying a tax that the government would not allow him to pay. If that strikes you as odd, its probably because youve read the Constitution.

Read the whole thing.

Still sporty at the NRA

NRA TV has been shuttered.

Chris Cox, who is an awesome guy, has resigned from NRA ILA.

All the cool kids have left the NRA and Wayne remains.

The suppressor bill

Mentioned it earlier but here’s a detailed analysis and rebuttal to this stupid legislation, that would make me a felon.

Well, come on then

Some idiot is running on the platform that he is coming for your AR-15s. When you get to Knoxville, shoot me a note. Happy to meet you.

This does not strike me as a bad thing

Headline: Gorsuch joins liberal justices in ruling against federal criminal statute

Oh no! Those darn liberals. What did they rule actually? They defended the 5th and 6th amendments.

Florida Woman

Well, OK:

A 32-year-old woman was arrested on June 15 when she gathered her husbands guns to turn them over to the Lakeland Police Department.

According to Courtney Irbys arrest affidavit, she told police her husband had been taken to jail for trying to run over her with a car. Irby said she went to Joseph Irbys apartment on Village Center Drive in Lakeland and searched for the guns she knew he had.

When she told a Lakeland police officer she had the guns with her to turn them in, he replied, So are you telling me that you committed an armed burglary? and Irby answered, Yes, I am, but he wasnt going to turn them in, so I am doing it, according to reports.

True

Heh

But of course

Bob Menendez has put forth a bill to ban silencers.

And speaking of the Dallas shooting

Once again, a mass murder stopped by someone with a gun.

Known wolf

Dallas News:

A relative of the man who opened fire outside downtown Dallas federal building this week warned the FBI in 2016 that he shouldnt be allowed to buy a gun because he was depressed and suicidal, his mother said Thursday.
Brian Clydes half-brother called the FBI about his concerns, their mother Nubia Brede Solis said. Clyde was in the Army at the time.

Things just got more sporty at the NRA

It’s the NY Times so the hyperbole may be a bit much. But it seems they have suspended Chris Cox for his part on a coup attempt. Cox is denying it.

Good question: Is anyone running NRA?

And here’s a story about a lawsuit alleging that unpaid bills could shutter NRA TV.

Does LaPierre have a plan? Or is this some sort of scorched-earth move?

A civil rights victory

Good:

California may not legally prohibit the Crossroads of the West gun show from taking place on state-owned fairgrounds, a federal judge ruled this week.

U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo said the First Amendment means a state agency in Southern California may not single out gun showswhich host discussions of gun politics, safety, and how to comply with legal requirementsfor a preemptive ban on future events. Bencivengo, an Obama appointee, granted a preliminary injunction on Monday after oral arguments.

This is why The Second Amendment Foundation is important.

Registration leads to confiscation

Fortunately for New Zealand, they weren’t required to register them.

This seems like a big deal

U.S. Marine Corps Adopts SIG Sauer M18 Handgun

I’ve actually pondered getting the M17 just to have an Army gun. Odd I never felt that way about the Beretta 92.

LOLwut

Noted Gun Expert Joe Biden wants to require guns to only be operated with DNA or fingerprints. Because he saw it in a movie:

If I get elected president of the United States of America with your help, if that happens, guns, we have the capacity now in a James Bond-style to make sure no one can pull a trigger unless their DNA and fingerprint is on it,” Biden told roughly 180 donors in an Upper East Side penthouse Monday evening. “We have that capacity to do it now. You know it.”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
