This could get interesting

NY gun shop raided by ATF* for SAFE act violations. Supposedly have a stack of form 4473s.

Remember, kids, you sold that upper already. Or boating accident. Right?

* wouldn’t that be a job for the state police?

Because cosmetics don’t change semi-autos that much

Why bans on so-called assault weapons are unlikely to reduce mass shooting deaths

Weapons of war

I don’t know that we’ve ever used semi auto AR-15s in wars. Maybe some high end sniper version.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

If you have a gun, you should be hanged without a trial.

Flamebait: The best piece of gear advice you’ve got

We all have one. Let’s hear yours. Mine:

Buy once cry once. My nephew even recites this one back to me now. But it’s true. Say you want to carry a 1911. Not my choice but it’s an adequate gun. You’re not doing yourself any favors by snagging up that Taurus that’s on sale. Sure, you’ll save a few bucks but eventually you’re going to wish you’d picked up that Springer or Sig. This applies especially to optics and holsters, in my opinion. People go and shell out a bunch of money on TheOneTrueGun and then throw it in a $19 holster or find some optic made for Airsoft and stick it on their AR. Then, they realize what they’ve done and buy quality, which they could have done in the first place.

Seriously, it’ll save you some headaches.

SCOTUS denies cert in Friedman v. Highland Park

Sebastian has some analysis. Basically, we need one more judge on right side of history. My guess is that the good guys on the court realized they didn’t have the win in the bag and punted. I could be wrong, of course.

Thomas filed a sharp dissent.

Terror watchlist

So, the president thinks that people on a secret government list (that has included babies, a senator, and 72 department of Homeland Security employees) should be denied constitutionally enumerated rights. And then wonders what the argument against that would be. Volokh responds.

You can be on the list and still work for DHS?

Ken at Popehat: Talking Productively About Guns

We must ban dogs, for the children.

It’s difficult to talk productively when the press can’t even be bothered to learn about the issue and the lies spread by the anti-gun movement become part of the media’s style guide.

The market responds

Surprising no one: NYT wants to ban guns

With a big, front page idiotorial:

Certain kinds of weapons, like the slightly modified combat rifles used in California, and certain kinds of ammunition, must be outlawed for civilian ownership. It is possible to define those guns in a clear and effective way and, yes, it would require Americans who own those kinds of weapons to give them up for the good of their fellow citizens.

No, you can’t define them in clear ways since your paper goes out of the way to lie about current guns. And it’s not going to happen. Full stop. Even the president can’t define what you’re trying to ban.

At least the masks are off now. How about no.

Never let a crisis go to waste

Loretta Lynch thinks a mass murder is a wonderful opportunity to make changes. Well, alrighty.

Sudden Jihad Syndrome with a touch of workplace violence

What we seem to know

It is amusing. Yesterday, I knew the shooter’s name at (checks facebook) about 6:15. It was listed on a couple of websites and the source was a local police scanner. Shortly after, the po po changed to a different channel. And I don’t think the press released the name for another few hours after that. Gosh, I wonder why?

Meanwhile, politicians were in a hurry to try to push through two stupid gun control bills, one banning gun possession for abortion protesters and one trying to sneak a ban on possession to those on the terror watch list, with a side of that BS Manchin Toomey bill, into the bill that would repeal portions of Obamacare.

Mass shooting numbers

No, there really haven’t been eleventy billion or whatever number of mass shootings this year. The whole bit and map are a lie. Tam explains. Heh.

Like you and me, only better

Speaking of “expect everything being reported in the first several hours to be substantially wrong”

True.

Has he checked out or is he that stupid?

Obama: I say this every time weve got one of these mass shootings; this just doesnt happen in other countries.

He said this in Paris. Yes, fucking Paris.

The local reporters called him an asshole and worse, something our press would never do.

So much fail in one story

So, the guy in Florida who banned Muslims from his store came out ahead in the first round because the plaintiff did not have standing. Well, OK. But the rest of the story is like a caricature of gun nut stereotypes. A few key bits:

Hallinan originally declared his business a Muslim-Free Zone in a video posted on YouTube that showed the 28-year-old standing in front of a Confederate flag, explaining that his decision was inspired by the Chattanooga shootings.

”’

To pay his legal bills, Hallinan teamed up with George Zimmerman to sell a series of prints of a Confederate flag painting by Zimmerman. The painting included the inscription, The 2nd protects our 1st, which Zimmerman described as a double entendre.

In his latest video, posted on Facebook after the lawsuit against him was thrown out, Hallinan refers to the members of CAIR as terrorists and says justice has been served.

Hallinan goes on to reveal Muslim-free-zone bumper stickers and shooting targets depicting an armed man in a turban. The targets encourage shooters to aim at the crotch area.

Whats the difference between a jihadi and E.T.? Hallinan asks in the video. Yeah, E.T. got the message and went home.

This one falls squarely into the category of “not helping”

This again

Another jury nullification activist arrested for handing out jury nullification pamphlets. The good thing is that, at his trial, his pamphlets will be admitted as evidence. Judge Jaklevic should be jailed.

In Nashville

Who let the hippies in? The city is banning a gun show for not doing law enforcement’s job for them. Or something.
