Good way to get shot

Whenever I happen to catch one of those shows where they put people in dangerous situations to see how they react, I often wonder how long it will be before someone gets shot. Well, some guy decided to wander around acting like a cannibal or zombie or some such; and chasing people. And someone pointed a gun at him. Darwin didn’t get his that day.

Flashbang

I’m not a fan of the Flashbang bra holster. Granted, I can’t wear one and I’m not the target audience but the thing looks like a problem waiting to happen. The issue I have is the same that I have with shoulder holsters: you very likely have to sweep others and yourself when drawing and firing.

Unlike shoulder holsters, when you grab this one, you may well be pointing it at your chest. In a high stress situation where it’s our body’s tendency to constrict muscles, this doesn’t seem like a good idea.

I bring this up because the NRA store had an NRA model of the holster for sale.

Race and gun laws

David addresses a ‘study’ that concludes: Race Plays Complex Role in Florida ‘stand your ground’ Law

The conclusions reached in that bit are pretty ridiculous.

Good question

In Venezuela, where they just banned all gun transfers:

If you can’t keep guns out of prisons, how can you control them anyplace else?

Odd and not art

Get with the program

Will you libertarians stop being so libertarian. It’s an election year!

Not so random OC stuff

In Florida, despite assurances to the legislature that police would stop harassing people for incidental exposure of a concealed gun, a man is arrested and being prosecuted for incidental exposure of a concealed gun. Or is he? That’s a pretty careless wardrobe choice for strapping on a heater. And a violation of the law, per Miguel.

If you look long enough, you’ll see the open carried gun.

Speaking of Kool Aid

With all the people switching to 9mm, will the competitive shooting associations stop handicapping the guns that fire that round?

On the radio

Here’s a link to the recording of my appearance on The Squirrel Report. I’m about an hour or so in, I think. Things I mentioned include:

In the beginning, gun blogging was all about OMG LOOK AT THIS COOL PIECE OF GEAR. Now, it’s turning into look how much this piece of gear sucks.

A retard gun: it’s a gun with a laser/red dot and no manual safeties that you can give to someone who is not a shooter when the SHTF. It’s point and click, Baby.

I’ve seen this movie, they always say that!!!

The Kool-Aid has gone to the top

At the GSSF match, I ran into Mike who was anxious to tell me that Patrick A. Rogers (yes, that one) had done an article in SWAT magazine announcing he was switching from 45ACP to 9mm. I’ve been making the switch for a while now. I now have one 45 caliber handgun that I keep for sentimental reasons (the Gun Blog 45, which I’d trade for the Gun Blog 9). As to why, well here you go.

Mr. Rogers has been carrying the Smith and Wesson M&P9.

He illegally possessed an AK machine gun

In Alexandria, a white supremacist decides to have his AK converted to shoot full auto. So, he finds someone to do it for $120 who turns out to be a cop. When he goes to pick the gun up, he is arrested for possession of the gun. I wonder if it actually was a full auto and if the police officer who converted it properly registered the NFA item with the ATF?

Hand-loading your ammo and the court

Robb talks about some cases where hand loads lead to guilty verdicts. Also, he found an argument against using them.

Manual Safety

Roanoke.com:

A Botetourt County man accidentally shot himself Friday while reading the instruction manual for a gun he’d just purchased.

The 28-year-old sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening after shooting himself in the left leg with a .45-caliber Rock Island Armory 1911 pistol, county dispatchers and officials said.

The issue for them

Typical lies about how the Brady Campaign to Cling to Relevancy doesn’t want to restrict gun rights to which David responds:

Richard, there is one small difficulty with that plan.

Nobody believes you.

That’s really their problem these days. No one is buying it.

MAIG employee working for the city, update

Remember those gun lobbyist on the taxpayer’s dime working for the city of Orlando? Well, the press noticed. And by noticed, I mean they went in to shilling for the gun control activist on city payroll.

Good news

ALAMEDA COUNTY RUNS AWAY FROM NORDYKE CASE, CONCEDES

Well, I can say one thing

No matter how badly I did at the match, I wasn’t disqualified.

And, hey, here’s a video I took of Glenn shooting a stage. And I also managed to steal a couple of the professor’s magazines.

Shooting in Seattle

Some nutjob got kicked out of a cafe and instead of putting a note in the suggestion box, he left and got his gun and came back and killed a bunch of people. One man fought back with a bar stool but a gun would have probably helped more. The shooter had a history of dismissed assault charges and a carry permit. Expect the blood-dancers to get right on that.

But you know how is to really blame? The libertarians. Well, at least the Paper of making up the Record says so:

Even in the best of times, the police in Seattle, a generally low-crime city, live under something of a bell jar of scrutiny. Widespread libertarian sentiments about personal liberty — and a small but vocal anarchist community ready on short notice to throw epithets, or sometimes rocks, at the police — often bump up against expectations of personal safety.

Yup. Scrutiny of police by those crazy libertarians have caused an increase in shootings. Or something.

Chris Edwards from Glock: Those who can’t shoot blog.

He was having a little fun with me due to my really off day at the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation match, in which I was outdone by a law professor.

Voice made for blogging

I’ll be putting on my Wookiee suit and talking on internet radio at The Squirrel Report tonight. I’ve been given strict orders to try to be mostly sober.

Quote of the Day

Cam Edwards on facebook:

Gun control is a tough sell when there are zombies and cannibals making headlines.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
