TSA shuts down critic

Schneier was supposed to testify in front of congress about TSA. But TSA had him removed from the witness list.

100 albums for $5. I snagged the REM greatest hits and a Jane’s Addiction album I’d never heard of.

And this is different from the movies how?

Unstrapped

As a rule, I don’t take my gun off and on. It gets put there in the morning and comes off when I get home. Handling a gun less is, as a rule, the better play. When I do take it off, I remove the whole holster. You know, stop touching it and all that. But today, I had a doctor’s appointment that would have resulted in getting made had I worn it. So, I removed the entire holster in the car. Kinda weird sitting in a parking lot and taking off a gun.

Lesson learned

Heh

Should I stay or should I fo?

Tam brings some wisdom on the value of, basically, getting the hell out of bad situations.

You don’t need a gun in a church

Except when you do:

Henry Guyton said he was in the pulpit, preaching about how Jesus spoke the word of God and healed the sick, when Gates kicked open the side door of the sanctuary and entered with the shotgun, pointing it at the pastor and congregation.

Church members, including Aaron Guyton, a concealed weapons permit holder, acted quickly.

Aaron Guyton held Gates at gunpoint, as church members Jesse Smith and Leland Powers held him on the floor and waited for deputies to arrive.

Dirty magazines

Not those, get you mind out of the gutter. But a look at gun malfunction.

News you can use

Disarming poor people is OK!

So rules a federal judge in NY who thinks that the $340 doesn’t deter people from getting a gun. I think NY should start charging that fee to vote.

Time travel

Tam on guns and guns sales, then and now.

Also, I never would have thought 10 or 15 years ago I’d be getting gun news from law professors.

We must regulate buckets

For the children. You don’t need a high capacity bucket that size and smaller ones are good enough. And how many buckets do you need?

Speaking of anti-gun states

The Waterbury police department has been refusing permits against the clear intent of the state legislature.

Impressive kitchen knife

Watch Bob Kramer put his chef’s knife through its paces, including chopping through three bottles of water, rope and aluminum cans. Wow. Kramer knives seem quite spendy. But, damn, that’s impressive.

And in an update to my kitchen knife bleg, I settled on Messermeister and have been quite happy with them so far. They cut through meat like butter, handle really well, and compared to comparable knives, come in at a lower price. I think my only regret is not getting the 23 piece set.

Why gun companies are located in anti-gun areas

Well, there you go.

This seems to happen with creepy regularity

Trigger locks

I’ve always thought them useless and, mostly, throw mine away or use them to lock the odd gate or box around the house. But it turns out, they come in handy at retail establishments:

“The reality is, the guy had a gun and was trying to load it,” Zardeneta said. “If he was trying to steal the guns or if he was trying to shoot people, for us, we need to get there and stop him, no matter what his plan was.”

Zardeneta said Rowlands removed an M-4 rifle from its case in the sporting goods section and attempted to load it. The rifle had a trigger lock on it, according to Command Sergeant Major C.B. Abel, so Rowlands was unable to load it. Zardeneta said a Walmart employee then took the rifle from Rowlands.

Also, seems another instance of ARs at Walmart, a recurring theme.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
