The VA has reportedly declared 260,381 veterans with fiduciary trustees to the background check system as mentally defective. According to the Congressional Research Service, more than 99 percent of all names reported to NICS as mental defective are provided by the VA.
This seems like a very big deal.

Somewhere, Big Tim Sullivan might be laughing. Over 100 years after the enactment of New York Citys handgun licensing law (commonly referred to as the Sullivan Act), the measure is still working as the political boss intended. That is to say, it is ensuring that New Yorkers who are well-connected, either by status or more nefarious channels, are able to arm themselves with handguns, while average residents remain at the mercy of the criminal element.

Apparently, letting .gov employees carry on the job is becoming a thing.
A gun allowing employees with permits to carry on campuses has cleared both houses. All the other gun bills Haslam said he’d sign seem to die in committee. His response should be interesting, particularly since he’s voiced concern that institutions cannot opt out.

While mostly a pro-gun and pro-carry state, Alabama has had some odd rules and fees that varied by county regarding carrying a gun. Looks like they’re getting ready to fix that.

As the session is winding down, our elected representatives are are doing just enough to make sure gun rights folks will vote for them.

Those sources say a Sergeant later told officers in the room that they had secretly ordered the officer to unload his weapon and then pretend to fire on his colleague as part of a training exercise on situational awareness. The officer then pulled the trigger of the unloaded weapon while pointing it at the head of an officer until it audibly clicked, the sources say.
Some snowflake professor doesn’t feel good recommending students who are gun enthusiasts. Reading that bigoted nonsense, the student is better off without your recommendation.
