TFA Needs You

Tennessee Firearms Association is looking for folks to help increase their web presence.

I just linked to you, so I helped with your presence some!

Stirring Shit Up

Sure, I could post this at my regular blog, but it’s nowhere near as much fun as if I post it here:

I’m voting Republican!

Bacon Double Cheeseburger Day

I’ll take mine with a side of chicken nuggets.

Happy birthday to you

Form 1 fun

We had fun with this a bit back. But a new reason: Zombies.

Registration

Leads to confiscation.

Making a buck

A conundrum!

Seems Ronnie Barrett (who I met at NRA Con) set a precedent. A bit back, when LAPD used one of his rifles as a prop to advocate banning his rifles, he sent them a letter stating he would not sell nor service rifles to police departments in Cali.

STI did almost the same thing by just cutting off sales to Cali.

Now, there’s money to be made in police contracts. Heck, I think 60% of PDs carry a GLOCK of some kind. Buckeye Firearms is none too happy with gun makers selling products to PDs in oppressive regimes and announces Project Correct Kimber:

Having just devoted a substantial chunk of pro bono legal work fighting governments committed to destroying your gun rights, I was horrified to read the March 2008 editions of several of my favorite gun magazines. Prominently featured in each edition was a feature story about a large manufacturer of 1911-type guns, breathlessly detailing the “gee whiz” details of their newest model dedicated to a California police agency. Each of the stories went into the history of the department the gun was designed for, yet one critical piece of background information was omitted from the tide of “fanboy” coverage.

These guns were all designed for a local government committed to stripping civilians of the right to own this same gun.

Please don’t misunderstand me. I love this particular manufacturer, and I personally carry their product almost daily. I have unreservedly recommended their product to students when asked. Honestly, given a choice, I PREFER their product. But there is no avoiding this conclusion: This manufacturer is designing firearms for police agencies in California at a time when California is committed to abolishing civilian ownership of these same firearms. If any of the gun writers who covered the unveiling of this product chose to question the wisdom of this sell-out, I have not yet found it.

There’s a letter writing campaign too.

I remember cringing when one of the gun mags I get said Kimber was selling a special 45 to LAPD’s SIS unit.

Now, I own and carry a GLOCK. And GLOCKs are issued to police in oppressive regimes like NYPD and Chicago PD.

What say you? Should I accept that gun manufacturers should want to make a buck? Or not?

What could possibly go wrong?

We’re doomed because stupid people make decisions on matters of the economy. And your average Joe thinks it’s a good idea

For instance, a bit back Maxine Waters wanted to get all commie with oil companies. Of course, she couldn’t quite say socialize. But there it was. In her heart of hearts. A threat for the .gov to take over. Which, as covered already today, is a surefire way for failure.

Now, both John Sir, Do I have your permission to be critical of you, sir McCain and Barack Marlboro Man Obama want to tax windfall profits on oil companies. Wow! That will get gas prices down in a hurry! I mean, those corporations will just pay it and not at all pass the associated costs along to consumers or anything like that. In fact, why not just get them to write me a check?

Also, let’s look at FedMath. American Hunters and Shooters Association endorsed (and only win) Claire McCaskill on big oil tax breaks:

What nerve does it take for us to give oil companies $17 billion in taxpayer money with those kinds of profits?

Notice that? See, she thinks that by taxing them less, she and congress, through their good graces, are giving them something. Instead of taking less. That’s like saying if you offer me some beer and I drink one instead of two that I gave you a beer.

Good thing McCain’s fellow Republicans are slightly less retarded than he is and killed the bill.

Today, some anti-gun person will read this post and wet themselves. I love it.

More training

If you’re in Knoxville, CCA is offering 3 Day Combat Focus Shooting & Advanced Pistol Handling Class.

Speaking of training, you did go vote in the ParaUSA gunblogger contest where you could win some training too, right?

What media bias?

Nope, none there.

Not at all suprising

Seems that for once the Senate may do the right thing and privatize it’s restaurant. Seems that under government control, it’s bleeding money like, well, congress.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone. After all, our federal government lost money operating a brothel. I shit you not.

A civil rights victory in Ohio

Castle Doctrine signed into law by Governor Ted Strickland.

Crime

Via AC, TN has two cities in the top 10 violent crime list. I’ll give you two guesses.

In other news, nationwide violent and property crimes are down. Must be due to all those recent gun control victories. Oh, wait. They haven’t had any victories.

Pantalones defecar histeria

My spanglish sucks and that’s google says.

Another piece (and recurring theme) in the press is that evil America is sending it’s evil guns across the Mexican border. Here’s one such bit:

At least 80 percent of all of the weapons used by drug traffickers in Mexico to kill one another as well as police and soldiers come from the U.S., Mexican officials say. They’ve repeatedly asked the U.S. government for more help in stopping the flow of weapons from Texas and other border states into Mexico.

Hey, you know what stop that? Give up? Bueller? A secure border.

Meanwhile, Josh Horwitz brings the bilingual PSH. Lamenting Mexico’s gun violence problem (which is unpossible with their strict gun controls), he notes:

Their guns of choice are extremely lethal: assault rifles (fully legal in the U.S. since the expiration of the federal ban in 2004), .50 caliber sniper rifles (capable of puncturing armor from long distances) and high-velocity handguns like the FN Herstal-57 (known south of the border as the “mata policia” or “cop killer”).

Assault rifles have been heavily regulated since 1934 and new transfer to civilains was banned in 1986. You know what else is capable of puncturing armor from long distances? Your dad’s 30-06. And no one calls the FN FiveseveN a cop killer except the anti-gun lobby.

But, seriously, a secure border would keep our guns out of Mexico.

Happy, happy, joy, joy

I’m reminded by Jay that gun owners are a happy lot.

I know, I mentioned it ages back.

Way to prove a point

Shot point blank with a 308 to prove it won’t knock you down. Relax, he’s got a vest.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

Careful Bond girls:

I don’t think there is anything particularly wrong about hitting a woman – although I don’t recommend doing it in the same way that you’d hit a man. An open handed slap is justified – if all other alternatives fail and there has been plenty of warning. If a woman is a bitch, or hysterical, or bloody-minded continually, then I’d do it.

Making fun of McCain: A-OK!

Making fun of Obama: Not so much.

A first

Today, for the first time, I rejected a blog ad. It was one of those 9-11 truther sites with a Kucinich fetish. Thought I’d share.

Dude, free training

Or why it’s cool to be a gun blogger!

ParaUSA is having a contest! All the bloggers who attended the Second Amendment Blog Bash are eligible to win a weekend training session at Blackwater with Todd Jarrett (who can be seen in action here).

The contest is a popularity contest with the ten gun bloggers who get the most votes the winner. And if you vote, your name is entered into the contest as well and one blog reader will get to go with us! And the event will be filmed for Michael Bane’s show!

So, go here and vote for your favorite gun blogger.

And, for the record, yes I want to see Todd Jarrett blow up a car by shooting at it.

Go vote.

And thanks to ParaUSA and Michael Bane for putting this together.

More human

Sebastian has a bit on Reasoned Discoursetm:

I think the reason for the vitriol is that we have unwittingly hit on a nerve. The LA Times article presented gun owners in a human light. For those who have their identities wrapped up in who they are not, which is ignorant, paranoid, rednecks compensating for some kind of inadequacy and reacting to an irrational fear of crime stoked by the right wing establishment, it’s horribly destabilizing to a smug sense of self to read that those types of people might actually have things in common with you. They may even have a serious point of view!

Indeed. One of the things that seriously messes with an anti-gunners worldview is discovering who we are. For instance, per the annual blogads survey, most readers of this site are educated, make well above average money, and are professionals. That goes against the antis impression that we are knuckle-dragging rednecks who entertain militia fantasies.

New Gun Industry Blog

Advanced Armament of sound suppressor fame have started a blog. There’s all kinds of gun porn!

Gas

KAG on gas: I just spent $72.

I can’t fill my truck up because all the pumps in my town stop at $75. I have a 22.5 gallon tank and the pumps shut off at about 18 gallons. Gas stations probably should up their limit.

Petards is smart

So, some folks from PETA decided that they’d lay under saran wrap, like meat. Then they’d proclaim meat is murder. Unfortunately, they decided to do this in June. In Memphis.

Squeaky has pics.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

On armor piercing ammo

Charles:

The “armor-piercing” Winchester .30-30 was invented in 1895, Kevlar in 1965. The .30-30 was the most popular cartridge for deer for that 70 years. Like any cartridge that is humane for whitetail deer hunting, it pierces normal body armor which was only designed to stop common handguns.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
