They don’t know the Asians I know
Asian Americans have the lowest rates of gun ownership among all demographic groups, according to exit polls conducted during the 2008 presidential election. And a 2016 survey of Asian American registered voters by APIAVote found that 77 percent wanted stricter gun control laws.

I think Publius is right. I remember Asian-Americans defending their businesses with firearms during the Rodney King riots.

My Asian wife has more guns than the local police barracks. She will gladly tell you that she is “a certified gun nut.” HK/FN/Sig Pistols, ARs, Tavor, FN rifles…
She didn’t start that way: graduate of a very liberal school and an LA Girl for most of her adult life. Then she met me and asked to go shooting one day.
Now she buys pistols because they’d work with outfits she wears. She thinks of guns like she thinks of shoes. God help me if she ever collects as many guns as she does shoes. She’d be a 95 pound militia-rebel version of Imelda Marcos.
So yeah, Asians like guns. You just need to show them the way. Never met an Asian (esp man) that didn’t fall into them fast, once they take the plunge. My evidence is her Asian friends – all of whom are now firmly on the dark side.

Most of my male asian friends are first or second generation, and huge gun nuts. The one zeroth generation guy that comes to mind is too busy buying houses and BMWs and raising his daughter for anything else, but he’s not opposed to guns.

Odds are they used the exact same polling process that lead them to believe total firearms ownership is down; call landlines only and as a stranger ask the generally elderly if someone keeps something desirable to steal in the house.

Probably a third of the shooters at my local USPSA clubs are Filipino.
