Lawmaker goes heeled
In WI, since the carry permits are now in effect.
Lights, lasers and low light training.
I did some low light and night shooting once at Mike’s place. One of the things that struck me was the smoke. If people are shooting enough to generate smoke and it’s dark out, your light and laser become less useful as they refract on the smoke.
Obviously, in a self defense situation, there’s probably not going to be hundreds of rounds going off to generate that sort of smoke. But I found it worth noting.
Ok, two things: First, the Richmond Times Dispatch just fabricates out of whole cloth some new meaning to castle doctrine laws stating that it will let people shoot first and ask questions later.
Second, I guess it’s hard times that the paper is publishing on tumblr?
Tam:
I demand that we close the Going Wherever You Want Loophole! If we checked everyone for government issued photo ID as they walked out their front door, we could prevent sidewalks from being superhighways for criminals, but the ACLU has vowed to fight any such legislation.
OMG! Someone can go from point A to point B largely unmolested!
A reader emails: I have a request: I’ve been searching for a duty holster and a concealed holster (IWB, etc) for my Ruger P944dc. No luck locally or on the web. Help?
My quick look turned up nothing. Anyone?
Waiver mania! Don’t like Obamacare, get a waiver if you’re influential enough. Don’t like NCLB, ditto.
Can I get a speed limit waiver and a Hughes amendment waiver? Who do I have to give money to?
Dave Perry is so smart that he resorts to emotional arguments and insults to tell you just how smart he is. His intellect is truly dizzying.
I don’t have much confidence in my ability to draw quickly, but if I wait until I’m flawless, I’ll never have my gun with me.
QFT.
And given that Nancy is about 7 feet tall, she could probably just rip someone’s arm off and beat them to death with it.
Over at pmsnbc, they are shocked that lawful and unlawful commerce originates on the internet.
Look for a push banning online listings of guns for sale.
Update: The Today Show .
Selective enforcement of the law is the first sign of tyranny:
President Barack Obama on Thursday will free 10 states from the strict and sweeping requirements of the No Child Left Behind law, giving leeway to states that promise to improve how they prepare and evaluate students, The Associated Press has learned.
Tennessee is one of them.
Evan Nappen wins a couple. A depressed security guard goes in for treatment, loses gun rights. And a dismissed restraining order against a man costs him his right to arms. The good guys win.
Had an ultrasound this morning. It’s kind of odd looking at your own internal organs. And they should really use some sort of warmer on that gel. I asked the tech if it was a boy and he laughed, even though I’m sure he’s heard that joke about 17,000 times. Results later this week.
A non-profit trade association to educate and inform people on silencer laws and benefits. Looking to change archaic hunting laws and raise public awareness of basic safety equipment.
An article from the San Francisco Chronicle on spotting concealed guns. Seems the criminal element is not inclined to use holsters.
Ed interviewed Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle. Look for it in the May issue of Shooting Illustrated. You can buy Kyle’s book American Sniper here.
Mentioned it a few times and it looked like they were going to be imported. Well, now the Obama administration is saying no to the M1 carbines:
The Korea Times is reporting that while it has (sic) will allow 86,000 historical M1 Garand rifles to be imported from South Korea, the Obama administration continues to block the importation of some 600,000 M1 Carbines because “they come with a magazine that can carry multiple rounds.”
You know what else can carry multiple rounds? A Garand clip.
New advertising and a marketing push. I’ve also read in a couple of gun rags about a few police departments adopting their handguns.
A large cat decided to try to make off with a man’s 6 year-old. The man gave chase and, after deciding that punching wouldn’t do it, pulled out his Spyderco and stabbed the cat. And remember, you don’t need weapons in parks.
And I know it’s a Spyderco because the dad posted at the Spyderco forum. Here’s a pic of his knife.
It has come to the attention of Connecticut Carry that the State Police Bureau of Identification has been stalling the administrative process of obtaining a pistol permit in the State of Connecticut. They’re sitting on 1,080 permits.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
