Korean Garand updates

Mentioned it a few times and it looked like they were going to be imported. Well, now the Obama administration is saying no to the M1 carbines:

The Korea Times is reporting that while it has (sic) will allow 86,000 historical M1 Garand rifles to be imported from South Korea, the Obama administration continues to block the importation of some 600,000 M1 Carbines because “they come with a magazine that can carry multiple rounds.”

You know what else can carry multiple rounds? A Garand clip.

Good gosh don’t tell ’em that. Those ignorant fools probably looked at a Garand, didn’t see any magazines, and figured that it was a single-shot rifle.

Good thing neither the Garand nor the carbine has The Shoulder Thing That Goes Up.

  3. Leon Says:

    Import them without the mags.
    Problem solved, eh?

(Probably too sensible for the Onointed ones.)

“they come with a magazine that can carry multiple rounds.”

I prefer magazines that carry fractional rounds.

  5. DirtCrashr Says:

Yeh but you can read a magazine while sitting on the toilet.

  6. Garrett Lee Says:

Hate to tell you, rickn8or, but both of them do. (But the Garand, since it doesn’t have a detachable magazine, doesn’t count as an eeeeeevil assault weapon anyway!)

  7. Bubblehead Les Says:

Let’s see. Tula .30 Carbine ammo imported from RUSSIA, CTD price, $13.49. KCI 15 round Magazines imported from KOREA, CTD price, $7.97. MI Carbine from A-O/Kahr, imported from the VolksRepubulik of, Massachusetts, $814.

Thank Crom that the Bradys have prevented the Importation and Sale of such a Dangerous Weapon into the United Staes, eh?

  8. Ellen Says:

The .gov knows the guns both have capability of multiple shots. They’re mocking both us and reason, and getting us used to “it’s the law because I said so”.

Which is funny cause a lot of M1s assaulted the shit out of some Germans.

Yeah, but they normally don’t come with those High Capacity Assault Clips(tm): http://www.gunrightsmedia.com/showpost.php?p=5336878&postcount=4

Wow, is the Daily Caller late on that story! The Korean Times article came out on Jan 18 and has already been discussed all over the web.

Nothing new in the Daily Caller article either. I covered this a few weeks ago and gave my reasons why I think we won’t be seeing those Korean Garands anytime soon, if ever. (The hot link on my name also takes you to the story.)

  12. HL Says:

Prepare for more gun control by fiat if Obama is re-elected.

  13. Jim Brack Says:

Well if I was Auto Ordnanace/Khar I would have been lobbying like hell to prevent those carbines from being imported. Just sayin….

  14. Crotalus Says:

“…come with a magazine that can carry multiple round.” Well, so can a simple revolver. I don’t usually load mine with only one round.

HL, maybe we can get the BATFEces to walk US some guns, if Obama wins reelection and declares the 2A null and void.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
