These never get old

At the last NRA convention, I missed the sad little protest. Other bloggers got to see it. I thought I missed it because of the timing but it turns out it was so small, I probably just didn’t see it.
Well, good news! I get a second chance to make fun of hippies in Pittsburgh. You see, the Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church is having a march to get illegal guns off the street. In addition to maybe misusing their non-profit status there, they’re also directing their righteous indignation at the wrong group. The NRA isn’t the one putting guns on the street. But if you go protest at a gangbanger’s house, he’ll shoot you.
And I love the flyer: Acres of Guns = Acres of Death. There’s always acres of guns at these things. No deaths that I can recall. But, then, reality isn’t something anti-gunners are well-versed in.
More from SIH and John. Yes, we can draw 65,000+ people and they can barely scrape together anyone.
All across the land, some 40 or so states allow those with carry permits to go heeled in establishments that serve alcohol. The push for these bills is always met with howls, bleats and screeches from anti-gunner and editorial boards (but I repeat myself) about how there will be shoot outs in bars and mass death and on and on. But it keeps not happening. And Ohio will be no different.
A look at Gun Improvement’s handgun safety shear pin:
The patent is for a safety shear pin designed to prevent accidental shootings. The device adds a lot of weight, 11.5 – 15.5 lbs, to the first trigger pull. This, in theory, makes it hard or impossible for small children to use the trigger and prevents accidental discharges in situations where a finger is on the trigger or the trigger is snagged on clothing.
No thanks. I’ll just follow gun safety rules and keep my guns in a safe location. As was said in comments at TFB:
The only people that will use it are the ones that don’t know better.
Safety between your ears. Gun owners should teach their kids gun safety.
And the ones that know better don’t need it.
Conservatives want to kill the gays, foreigners, Muslims, lynch black people, perpetuate another holocaust, and are also probably cannibals. These are the discussions members of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence have. Seriously, these people are nuts.
Ex boyfriend beats on a man’s daughter. Gets shot in head by dad, reducing his domestic violence recidivism rate to zero. Go dad.
Try to understand, ladies and gentlemen: learn to live with high fuel prices and everything that means. That’s what happens when we are not allowed to produce. And we have no other choice: we either produce, or we eventually starve and freeze in the dark.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why bureaucrats do not understand that. I mean, other than they’re bureaucrats and their exposure to the real world is limited.
Yeah, it sucks. But it is what it is.
But, hey, if California non tea-partiers are turning, maybe there’s hope.
China’s economy to overtake the US economy by then. You would expect that to happen already since they a whole lot more people. Except that, you know, it’s China.
Since they tell me those are powerful enough to take down aircraft. Man shoots LAPD helicopter, forces it to land.
Gov. Bill Haslam and Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey are working against a bill to allow faculty and staff to carry guns on the campuses of Tennessee’s public universities.
But the two Republicans have arrived at that position for different reasons.
Haslam says he wants to leave it up to administrators at each school to decide whether to allow guns to be carried, while Ramsey says he doesn’t want the proposal to dominate media attention while several other important initiatives are pending before lawmakers.
Ramsey’s reason is dumb. Haslam, at least, seems have a decent reasoning except that I think current state law makes carrying on campus illegal.

From a constitutional perspective, the Supreme Court may have gotten it right. But from a standpoint of public safety, lawmakers are getting it very wrong. A right to keep and bear arms should come with restraints that equally protect those who have no interest in owning them.
And how exactly does one do that?
Chattanooga police raid poker game. This is priceless: Any arrest obviously reduces crime in our city and a crime reduction means safer streets and safer communities.
Says a defense attorney:
Gambling to me is unique crime. It’s one of these crimes, like speeding, where a whole lot of people violate it,” he said. “Everybody who bet money on the NCAA basketball tournament was probably gambling. … It might be a little harder to prosecute a gambling case because gambling on a low level is so widespread.
Anti-gun group Coalition to Stop Gun Violence calls for the police to raid a gun blogger’s house because he made his son eat dinner. And accuse the father of child abuse. No, really.
These people are insane and clearly outside the mainstream. Check out the last comment here.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
