Everything old is new again

First it was lefties calling their opponents unpatriotic. Now, the White House says if you criticize them, you’re supporting terrorism:

In an oped in USA Today, John Brennan — Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism — responds to critics of the Obama administration’s counterterrorism policies by saying “Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda.”

Dissent is no longer patriotic.

I’m a veteran, so I support terrorism. I’m a pro-life christian, so I support terrorism. So now, as I sit eating my crunch berries and reading various gun blogs that take digs at Obama, I’m supporting terrorism.

I have a weiner dog named Tango, so I guess that means I really support terrorism.

  2. Robb Allen Says:

And according to the Administration, US Citizens can be assassinated if they are considered a direct terrorist threat to America.

    Sleep tight.

  3. towerclimber Says:

Well..speaking for the Majority of us I can only say that if they try to assassinate us, they’d better get it right the first time..otherwise someone’s going to have some pretty hurt feelings.

  4. JD Says:

No suprise, Obama kept all the other Bush policies. . . why change now? You don’t really think he can have an original thought do you???

  5. Sebastian-PGP Says:

They kinda have a point…AQ knows they can’t face us toe to toe. They wanted us to get mired in quagmire wars in the ME and abandon our way of life and the rule of law and start squabbling amongst ourselves and be distracted from our economy and way of life sliding down the shitter.

    They’re getting all that.

  6. Dan Says:

If AQ really wants to destroy the American way of life, they can try to convince people to vote for Obama again.

  7. Mark@Sea Says:

Well, they did endorse him the first time.

  8. Mikee Says:

So factually motivated criticism and well-founded fear mongering therefore must make one more patriotic, then, under the premise that “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism” (copyright, Hillary Clinton).

I’ve seen an awful lot of patriotism in the dissent from the actions of the Obama administration under the above definition.

  9. Nate Says:

Oh joy, a chance to use their own arguments against them! “Where were you when the left was protesting Bush fighting these wars?”

  10. Lyle Says:

Uh huh. Now lets zero in on the principles, lest we lose track of reality while slinging mud at random. Focus like a laser beam. The jihadis have quite a bit in common with the American Left. They both hate capitalism, they both hate trading with interest, they both hate America’s rich and superficial lifestlye (as they see it), they both hate religious freedom (thoughbeit for slightly different reasons) and they’ve both accused our industrial society for harming the planet. In short; they’re both statist ideologies with deep roots in Marxism, while the jihadis and the American conservative have virtually nothing in common.

  11. Rivrdog Says:

Dissent wasn’t a favorite thing of Al Capone, either.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
