More gun sales

More Sold On Black Friday Than Any Day In Tenn. History:

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation runs a background check every time a gun is sold across the state. It has been bombarded with work: More than 38,000 checks this November as compared to just 24,000 in November of last year.

Julie Carter said she can believe it. She’s been to five different stores looking for the gun her son wants for Christmas. She said she began researching online in July, and where there once was stock there now is not.

With December traditionally the hottest month of the year for gun sales, it remains to be seen whether another record will be shattered.

TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm said that the increase in work is a bit overwhelming as workload has doubled.

Since the election, 46,382 guns have been sold in Tennessee, not including those sold Thursday.

Many have said the economy played a role in their decision to buy a weapon.

And I’m sure people don’t believe the Employee of the Month.

If they haven’t already, sales will drop off soon.

All the gun shops are out of the guns that people want to buy…and the manufacturers simply can’t keep up with demand.

They are understandably reluctant to spend the money to increase manufacturing capacity because this run is temporary and, if the run is justified, the products they manufacture may be illegal in the next year or two anyway.

Anyway, the point is that I seriously doubt that we’ll break any records for December. Hard to make purchases when there’s nothing available to buy.

Tell me that standing over the literal piles of glocks and springfields we get shipped in every tuesday.

Well, I am proud to say that two of those 46,382 are mine.

Speaking of, Dr. Strangegun – do you all stock uppers? Or just whole AR-15s?

I’m thinking more along the lines of AR’s. I’m sure there are plenty of people buying hi-cap pistols too…but record numbers?

I suppose it’s possible. I still think the “panic buying” is going to start dying down soon if it hasn’t already.

‘course I’ve been wrong before and probably will be again.

    Someday.

  5. Linoge Says:

From looking at a lot of manufacturer’s webpages, and talking to a lot of builders/assemblers, I would venture to guess that this “panic buying” is going to be lasting a while – the people doing the buying may not get their products for months, but that will not stop them from putting in their orders.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
