Obama likes gun confiscation
Couple of decades ago, Australia had a mass shooting, similar to Columbine or Newtown. And Australia just said, well, that’s it, we’re not doing, we’re not seeing that again, and basically imposed very severe, tough gun laws, and they haven’t had a mass shooting since.
Our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There’s no advanced, developed country that would put up with this.
Yup, he just praised a forced disarmament of civilians.

Australia’s rape stats are off the charts, tho. If I were a woman in Aussieland, I’d want a gun.

And since then, Australia has seen three separate arson attacks which each killed 10 or more people.
Of course they don’t count – no guns involved.
BTW, most of Australia already HAD “tough gun laws” – license to purchase, license to possess, safe storage, no carry allowed, “good reason” required (self-defence not accepted), gun club membership required, “authority to shoot” letter from rural property owner.
The law changes actually saw some states (I’m looking at WA) EASING restrictions, as the Federal government blackmailed the states into (sort of) standardising laws across the country.

“Learn this, Mr. President: we aren’t Australia. And, honestly, millions of us are sick of talk like this.
Hear this: we will not stand for the confiscation of our rifles and handguns. For the sake of the children, you best understand: many, many more Americans are going to die, Mr. President, if you try this, far more than die every day in the Democrat-occupied cities where citizens, not criminals, are disarmed.
If you don’t like ‘gun violence’, Mr. President, then stop forcing it on the us, the American people. If you and Valerie Jarrett and Eric Holder and your money men, Bloomberg and Soros push a full-blown confiscation of rifles in this country, then you betcha you will see ‘gun violence’, sir. An honest study of American history, a country neither you nor your advisers understand, bears that out with deadly certainty. America was born in blood, resisting the ‘gun violence’ of the tyrant with our own guns, muskets, and cannon.
You try to take our firearms, sir, and you will start a bloody civil war the likes of which has not been seen here since 1865.
I beg you to understand, Mr. President, and stop this now.”

Australia didn’t have a problem with mass shootings before, either. One data point doesn’t make a trend line.
I suspect this is just an attempt to salvage some ratings after the taliban swap PR disaster and VA hospital PR disaster. We all know he’d like to confiscate civilian weapons, but I don’t think he has the balls. Not unless he wants to see open anti-government warfare in all 50 states simultaneously.

Given he demanded the US do some “soul searching” and he bemoaned how he couldn’t get any gun control last year, a large portion of this is him whinning about how he didn’t get what he wanted.
Also note his tremendously scary ignorance. He doesn’t even know what the current status of background checks in *gun stores* is.
And then he goes on about ammunition stockpiles.

What prexy/rexy DIDN’T say was that violent crime in Australia increased by 44% immediately after the confiscation, and is still going up, albeit at a slower rate. Oz-land is the absolute proof of, “when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
