Chicago Gun Case
From David Kopel: Amicus brief in the Chicago handgun ban cases.
We’re screwed. Mind you, earlier reports noted how the senate’s phones were shut down due to all the calls from people opposing the bill. Yet, they did it anyway. Remember that.
Some crybaby who deletes comments that dont make nicey-nice with her worldview:
I could show hundreds of statistics on why tough gun control laws should be strictly enforced, …
Then why didn’t you?
but the best argument is that one child’s death is too many.
Trouble finding those statistics, must appeal to emotion.
Via Mike, who notes the mental deficiencies we’re dealing with.
Messing with template. Site may be ugly for a minute or two.
Update: Ok all done. Any problems?
Update 2: Oh, and hit refresh (ctrl +f5) first to see if it loads right.
PGP: Let me see…the police *think* you might be armed (gun registration what could possibly go wrong?), so they kick in your door, detain everyone forcibly, and shoot your dog because they’re looking for someone who doesn’t even live there.
Another case against registration.
Another confidential informant? They invaded his son’s home too. No arrests.
Nice:
Blackwater Worldwide has started marketing a personal defense course for professional athletes, pushing firearms training just two months after NFL star Plaxico Burress shot himself in the thigh.
The course set for April teaches athletes how to handle a firearm and how to defend their families from a home invasion.
People seemed to take issue with my dismissive attitude toward such an event. A few reasons why:
1 – The first one was to be in 2001. Never happened.
2 – Gun activists tend to be real activists. That is, they give money to candidates; write letters to their reps; donate to political funds; and communicate with politicos. Ineffective, feel good marches that do nothing but lead to unflattering photos in the paper are what hippies do.
3 – Gun owners will likely be harassed by DC police. Unlike hippies, gun owners probably are not the sort to just lay there and take it. And one act of violence is detrimental for us.
4 – Press coverage: Given how the media loves to portray gun owners as dumb, cousin-humping rednecks, how do you think that’s going to go? They’re going to find the one stupid protester and talk to that guy.
Now, if they want to hold the event, hats off to them. But you’ll have to excuse me for not being too excited about it.
So, are our large Federal bureaucracies incompetent or does Barack Obama hate white people?
We got some snow the other day. Me and Junior built a snowman:

You’ll notice our snow man is sheriff. We should have built him a snow gun because it seems some outlaw snow men came by with a snow shotgun:

Once again, an Obama appointee is busted for not paying taxes. No wonder Democrats don’t mind raising taxes. They don’t pay them. Interestingly, Glenn notes:
Is this, like, some kind of karmic payback for all the Joe-the-plumber tax business?
I was sort of thinking that a lot of this has come out since Joe. And I know the press is lazy when it comes to asking hard questions of Obama and I’d bet they’re not the ones discovering this. I wonder, then, if someone learned after the Joe The Plumber incident to just start searching public records for anyone who enters the political arena and then to leak it?
When I brought it home, I field stripped it, cleaned it, and re-assembled it without even thinking about it. As soon as I got it back together, I realized, “Wait a minute, I didn’t know how to field strip an AK.”
Remember, Mexican army has a lot of 50 calibers. Lots of deserters in their army. But obviously crime guns come from US gun shows.
For the second time, I’ll give props to the Obama administration:
The White House affirms that he will end the Bush/Clinton policy of raiding medical marijuana providers who are operating within the parameters of state law. A victory for patients, for the Tenth Amendment, and for responsible use of federal law enforcement resources
Wow:
A Beaver Dam Middle School teacher is on administrative leave after school officials discovered a photo of her with a gun on Facebook.
Schools superintendent Donald Childs says a concerned staff member brought the photo to the district’s attention.
Congress Quietly and Significantly Expands Bailout Inspector General’s Powers. They include the power to:
(A) carry a firearm while engaged in official duties as authorized under this Act or other statute
A firearm to regulate TARP money?
A groundhog bit Michael Bloomberg. In response, Bloomberg called for sweeping legislation to require that all groundhogs be rounded up and vaccinated. He also began a series of lawsuits aimed at suing groundhogs in other states. Word is he will also ban smoking in the boroughs.
Bad pun intended.
Did you know Knoxville had a girl’s Roller Derby team? Me neither. I didn’t even know roller derby existed outside of movies.
The outright fabrication of blaming US for the fact that Mexican drug gangs are getting machine guns and grenades at US gun shows continues.
“The 5.7 x 28, armor piercing (AP) rounds are not available for sale to the general public and are probably coming from the Mexican military,”
Last week Gen. Ángeles Dahuajare announced that more than 17,000 soldiers had deserted in 2008.
“The Mexican Army is becoming a revolving door for the enforcement arm of the drug cartels; they simply pay better,” Stewart said.
Err, that Mexican Army is a US gun show? And we have a winner:
Sorry guys…it works both ways. If it’s our demand for drugs that fuels the drug cartels, it’s your demand for guns that fuels the gun running. If it’s our responsibility to secure our borders from drugs and illegals flowing from Mexico, it’s your responsibility to secure your borders from guns flowing from the US.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
