Quote of the Day

On his new AK:

When I brought it home, I field stripped it, cleaned it, and re-assembled it without even thinking about it. As soon as I got it back together, I realized, “Wait a minute, I didn’t know how to field strip an AK.”

    Heh.

You know, Im pretty sure I did the same thing. Its kind of like the force, you dont think, you just do.

Now that right there is funny. Is that the sign of a great design for a grunt weapon or what. . .

I thought all of Alaska was a bunch of fields and mountains….

    That’s a feature, not a bug.

yeah, the AK’s like that. you could train a monkey to field strip, clean, and reassemble it, and two or three generations of drill sergeants already have…

Trigger slap is caused by the camming angle between the hammer and disconnector being too severe. As the hammer whips back to engage the disconnector, it has to cam the disconnector back so the two parts can latched together. If the angle is too flat, the disconnector will whip back at high velocity and hammer the trigger, causing pain in your finger. The cure is to make the camming between the hammer and disconnector more gentle. The trick in doing this is to make sure the disconnector still has plenty of purchase on the hammer. You can grind the front “foot” of the disconnector where it rests on the trigger, allowing it to rotate farther forward, if you have to.

Putting in a new trigger pack is much easier, the G2 being one of them. The G2 is easier to install than the original, because it comes with its own permanent “cheater pin”. You’ll know what I mean the first time you try to install an original AK trigger pack.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
