Why are anti-gun activists so violent?
Another one wishing for other people with guns to come kill you and take your guns.

WLRN:
The Florida Sheriffs Association would not comment Thursday. But Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, a staunch opponent of open carry, said the four amendments wouldn’t make the bill acceptable to him — or safe for people who openly display their guns.
For instance, he said, if an officer arrives at the scene of a crime and sees someone with a weapon, “At a minimum, they’re going to be thrown down on the ground with a gun pointed at them — or worse.”
And if good citizen with a concealed weapon walks into, say, a bank during an armed robbery, Gualtieri added, “he’s going to take one in the chest because he’s a threat.“
I’m not a police officer and have never been one. But isn’t one aspect of police work doing actual, you know, police work. Seems to me that it wouldn’t be too difficult to determine if someone is or isn’t a threat before you go shooting them.
Glenn Reynolds: THERES NO IQ TEST TO BE A UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATOR: University administrator says federal statute trumps the Constitution.
I get what the good professor is saying and all. But how is the administrator, in any meaningful sense, wrong? There are a number of federal statutes that are clearly unconstitutional and they are still treated as law. And are, often, held up in a court of law.
ATF actually wastes my and your money to pay someone to run a facebook page. They posted this little infographic of TRUEFACTS on the page:
The comments there are full of people calling them out.
Already struggling with finances, the Democratic Party has drafted a plan to have taxpayers help pay about $20 million for next summers nominating convention, reversing a change Congress approved just a year ago.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is also a congresswoman from Florida, has drafted a bill to restore money that both parties used to receive from the federal government to help defray the costs of running their quadrennial conventions.
How about No. You can’t run a party with other people’s money.
The FAA has decided that drones should be registered:
The registry for drones weighing at least 9 ounces marks the latest balancing act for federal regulators who are trying to keep the skies safe as drones increasingly share airspace with passenger planes. Industry groups have estimated that hundreds of thousands have already been sold, with many more on the way as holiday gifts.
The registration will cost $5 for an unlimited number of aircraft and will be valid for three years. The credit-card transaction will help confirm the owner’s identity, and the fee will be refunded during the first month, to encourage people to register early.
No act of congress, just unaccountable bureaucrats making it up as they go.
By the pro-gun control Adam Winkler:
Such bans don’t reduce gun crime, but they do stimulate passionate opposition from law-abiding gun owners: Gun control advocates ridicule the NRA’s claim that the government is coming to take away people’s guns, then try to outlaw perhaps the most popular rifle in the country.
Speaking of, support for banning “assault weapons” is at a 20 year low.
More big boy training. Though, it’s not just AK guys. I’ve seen quite a bit of that from others too.
Heh:
These reforms demonstrate that, although Congress is not interested in banning guns, or in banning gun owners based on secret blacklists, Congress and the president can work together to enact common-sense reforms.
The ironically named Josh Earnest is a little perturbed that people go out and buy guns after a mass shooting.
A reader emails this quote (with relevant links) from the NYT editorial on banning guns:
Such efforts, while piecemeal, are critically important steps toward a safer country. States and cities have passed laws restricting or banning certain types of weapons, magazines and ammunition
If you click on the word “ammunition” it takes you to this piece, which is a satire/hoax site.
Even better, the original source appears to be a parody of the NY Times.
Obama to use executive order for gun control:
President Barack Obama’s advisers are finalizing a proposal that would expand background checks on gun sales without congressional approval.
White House adviser Valerie Jarrett says the president has asked his team to complete a proposal and submit it for his review “in short order.” She says the recommendations will include measures to expand background checks.
Dis gon b gud.
Pretty much: I hate Donald Trump, people who love Donald Trump, people who hate Donald Trump, and media who cover Donald Trump.
Particularly, the latter. Though a Trump success may bring about the end of the GOP and the establishment control of politics, he’s kind of frightening.
Governor to pen executive order banning gun purchases to those on the no fly list. How does a state get its hands on the list?
Marco Rubios claim that no recent mass shootings would have been prevented by gun laws: the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth
Amitai Etzioni a the Huffington post says we need domestic disarmament:
Given that even micro gun control measures will be effectively blocked by the NRA and its allies, and that promoting mini measures as potentially effective is misleading, progressives may as well go for the big enchilada: Call for domestic disarmament.
I don’t think progressives understand how that will play out. Those sitting on the sidelines cheering on the disarmament effort are as much fair game as those doing the disarming.
But he does acknowledge proposed gun controls will do nothing.
Until the No Fly List Is Fixed, It Shouldnt Be Used to Restrict Peoples Freedoms. Though I do think this is wrong:
There is no constitutional bar to reasonable regulation of guns, and the No Fly List could serve as one tool for it, but only with major reform.
Denying someone their rights without due process is not a reasonable regulation.
And even the New York Times goes in. Except that was last year and it involved rights they actually respect.
When debating the wisdom of the Constitutions Second Amendment, the media tends to start from the presumption that the question is purely scientific, and that the answers can and should be derived from statistical analyses and relentless experimentation. This approach is mistaken. The right of the people to keep and bear arms is not the product of the latest research fads or exquisitely tortured data journalism, but a natural extension of the Lockean principles on which this country was founded. It must be protected as such.
It is also, of course, settled case law now.
Why the Term “Racist” No Longer Means Anything
Misuse and abuse of the terms have diminished any real meaning to serious people.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
