Rachel Polansky has a rather hysterical piece with this catchy title: NBC2 Investigation: Legally buying guns you can’t legally carry
I know, right? Ok, look here, hon. People buy hunting rifles. And buying a handgun doesn’t mean you’ll carry it. Reading further, I’m guessing she’s one of those people, who are often journalists, that equate permits to carry with registering or whatever. I mean, this person says some really stupid stuff:
The NBC2 Investigators have uncovered a flaw in Florida’s gun checks system.
300,000 people legally bought guns in Florida in the last four months. Only 100,000 people got their licenses to carry in the same time frame.
What does that mean for the other 200,000 people? Do they already have their licenses? Are they illegally carrying?
The NBC2 Investigators found out no one knows for sure because two different state agencies handle Floridas gun buying-and-carrying process.
Watching the video, all of the journalists are stupid. And reading the reporter’s website, wow. Being a journalist on TeeVee apparently does not require the ability to think or, you know, do some fucking journalism.
An open thread. I think the only thing that is a certainty are supreme court picks. Everything else depends on a Republican congress that usually ignores gun owners once elected.
A gun shop has agreed to pay out $2.2M:
Delana filed her lawsuit after her daughter, Colby Weathers, bought a gun at Odessa Gun & Pawn Shop and used it to kill Tex Delana, her father and Delanas husband.
Delana had called the store on June 25, 2012, pleading with it not to sell a gun to her daughter. Weathers had bought a gun there previously and later attempted to commit suicide. Delana gave the store manager her daughters full name, Social Security number and birthdate and told him, Im begging of you. Im begging of you as a mother, if she comes in, please dont sell her a gun, her lawsuit stated.
Despite Delanas plea, the store sold Weathers a gun and ammunition. She shot and killed Tex Delana within the hour. Weathers eventually pleaded not guilty to murder by reason of a mental defect or disease and was committed to the care of the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
Interesting. I am not a lawyer but I can see the case for actual negligence here. Any opinions?
Well, better later than never.

The Daily Caller: GOP Congressman Preps National Concealed Carry Bill For Next Congress
Chris has a look at the issue. Obviously, it’s dependent on what the new shooter wants the gun for. If they want a plinker, one for defense, hunting etc. But I tell everyone who is new to guns and wants a handgun for self defense the same thing. Get a Glock. In 9mm. The G17 or G19 are both fine. The 17 being the big one and the 19 hitting the sweet spot for carry. If you’re limited to ten rounds by state law, then the 26 is fine, though not optimal.
Get a Glock. In 9mm.
If you don’t like its non standard grip angle and want better stock sights, get S&W M&P. In 9mm. I prefer the M&P’s grip angle. I have both.
What Trumps Staff Picks Mean For The Second Amendment. Hopefully, he’ll remember the support he got from the NRA and let gun rights go on offense, unlike past Republicans who pander to gun rights folks during election and then forget about them after it’s over. Like Democrats do with minorities.

President Obamas term passed without a whiff of scandal. Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick.
How much time did they spend contemplating coverage of Obama’s numerous lies?
When we last saw Dwight on TWD, he was aiming (well not really) a semi-auto handgun using his middle finger on the trigger with his index on the slide. And tonight, here he is gripping his AR-15 by the magazine well and magazine:
Seriously, TeeVee guys, I’ll happily consult on how not to do stupid things with guns.
Yeah, on any day that ends in Y. But this one is different:
Three men have been charged after two of them were shot by the employee of the store they tried to rob Sunday night in West Rogers Park, according to Chicago Police.
Good.
It boils down to this: you shouldnt have to be concerned about your safety while shopping for clothes or trying on a pair of jeans. Simply put, firearms don’t belong in either of those settings. In the end, I believe we have an obligation to our employees and customers to ensure a safe environment and keeping firearms out of our stores and offices will get us one step closer to achieving that reality.
I’m concerned about my safety wherever I go.
Ohio State Knife Attacker Abdul Artan Was Taking a Class About Microaggressions
I’m torn. I mean, should I note the irony of it all. Or should I be surprised that there is actually a class about microaggressions?
Saw these at the gun show from a guy outside trying to sell them:
They appear to be a couple of Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless models. I’d never seen one before.
A gun shop submits his paper work for a Glock 18, complete with sheriff’s letter. ATF processes the paperwork. Then ATF notices the sheriff’s letter was out of date. So, they want to seize the gun from the shop.
ATF can’t get paperwork right. No big deal for them. If you get the paperwork wrong, it’s a big deal for you.
And reading through the article, it seems the dealer and sheriff just wanted to be able to get some cool toys.
WSJ:
Peter Ambler, executive director of Americans for Responsible Solutions, a gun control super PAC, said his organization plans to fight national reciprocity tooth and nail, threatening a Democratic filibuster of the legislation in the Senate. Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat and ardent gun-control advocate, said he believes any version of a national reciprocity bill would be dead on arrival in the Senate, due to strong Democratic opposition.
No, there won’t be a G19L. Looks like the NYPD is just neutering their magazines. There would have been a market for the latter.
It has been speculated that some thing was held over Justice Roberts to get him to do whatever it was he did in ruling for Obamacare. Well, some Podesta emails seem to confirm that.
H&K will no longer sell weapons to countries not in NATO. This bit amused me:
The company, one of the world’s best-known gunmakers, will in future only sell to countries that are democratic and free from corruption and that are members of NATO or NATO members’ partners, DPA said, citing company sources.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
