In Illinois. Well, the election is over. No doubt, they are returning to their graves.
Seen at Joe’s:
Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.
Text of the bill.
Do any of these people pay taxes?
And Daschle.
Oh, and Geithner doesn’t like to pay taxes either but he’s not rooming under the bus. He makes mistakes and blames Turbo Tax. And others make mistakes too.
And PGP notes that while Obama was vetting gun owners from his cabinet, maybe he should have asked if they were tax cheats.
Bill:
Nobody wants to repeal the Second Amendment, and nobody wants to keep you out of the deer woods, but wouldn’t it be nice if your children didn’t have to worry about being mowed down by an assault weapon when they turn the corner?
First, it’s not that great of a worry statistically. Second, Bill Clinton of all people should know the political folly of supporting such a notion.
Breda: and for god’s sake, don’t give him any caffeine
me: i know, i know
and don’t get him wet
or feed him after midnight
Breda: yes, exactly
Our guest for tonight is Gordon Hutchinson, author of the Great New Orleans Gun Grab, who will be joining us live at 9pm. After an initial Q&A session with Breda and I, we will as always open up the phones to take questions from the audience, you can join us live by calling (347) 539-5436 to join the conversation!
Somehow, we have one in East Tennessee. Who fell asleep at the switch?
A letter to the editor from one Jim Winston:
According to patrons at these shows, the AK-47 carbine rifle brings up to $1,600. These type weapons serve no purpose in a society with a professional army and local police departments. Fully automatic carbines and pistols are not sporting weapons. The primary use of these weapons is superior fire power over the police and army.
And there are no fully automatic anything for sale at these gun shows for $1,600. It’s OK. I can see how you’d be confused since the press lies to you about assault weapons. Continuing:
Too often, these weapons fall into the hands of thugs, the mentally ill or rural terrorist types. We are guaranteed the right to own our pistols and rifles by our Constitution. But it is out of control now.
I guess the only bleeding hearts are the innocent victims left lying at the crime scene.
Our legislators should avoid lobbyists of these gun profiteers and stand up for the police and all innocent victims murdered with these weapons.
Ok, then.
Zoiks: An unusual number of journalists from prominent, mainstream organizations started new government jobs in January, providing new kindling to the debate over whether Mr. Obama is receiving unusually favorable treatment in the news media.
Holder has been confirmed. I said before it was a foregone conclusion.
DAMIT is looking for one and wants some help:
OK, so my ideal weapon is the size, shape, and width (very important) of a Walther PPK, comes in .45 Long Colt or .44 Magnum
We all want one of those to carry when riding our unicorns. But, seriously, give some advice.
Tam:
Meet Tiffani. Tiffani is 19 years old. She works part time at a nursing home, goes to college, and likes mountain biking. She can vote, join the military, and thanks to Indiana state law, she has a license to carry a handgun. She can carry it at work. She can carry it when she goes with her friends to the movies or to Applebee’s. But when she goes to school, apparently she is likely to become “drunken, enraged or excessively fearful” and likely to go on a rampage.
Already, the deliberate deceptions we heard from anti-gunners previously are resurfacing. Anti-gun Sen. Carl Levin, D-MI, said last Thursday on the floor of the Senate that “assault weapons” are “capable of firing up to 600 rounds per minute” and that they are “once again pervading our streets and neighborhoods.”
He notes:
Did we mention that our opponents are deliberately deceptive?
A new anti-gun propaganda piece contains this gem: a 12-caliber gun that can pump four bullets with each squeeze of the trigger
Some expert.
Someone should have clued me in to Carteach’s blog a while back. All kinds of gun stuff, like photographing guns. And a WECSOG solution to fixing your Mosin’s front sight. And AR180B porn.
Congressman and Gubernatorial Candidate Zach Wamp emails regarding my coverage of the governor’s race and guns:
Read a lot about guns and Tennessee Governor race. Please know that I have a 14 year record of 2nd Amendment Protection with no compromise, no exceptions and no excuses. Our records tell the story. Please make sure you don’t get hoodwinked.
Wamp’s record on guns from OnTheIssues is impressive.
Hats off to Mr. Wamp for reaching out to the blogs.
Apparently, he’s express anti-gun sentiment in the past:
Q: Should people have access to buy assault weapons?
A: Society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you’re going hunting? That’s overkill. But I don’t think that means you go to a total ban for those who want to use gun for skeet shooting or hunting or things like that But what’s the point of passing gun laws if we’re not going to enforce them? If you want to talk about gun control, that’s where you need to start. We’ve got 300 gun laws on the books right now. At the end of the day, it’s about how we enforce the law.
However, he states also that he supports enforcing existing laws and no more gun controls. I think maybe Mr. Steele should be educated about weapons that look like assault weapons and that gun owners should let the RNC know their opinions.
The press always likes to point out the number of guns someone has during a particular incident. They do this as though the number of guns correlates with some perceived level of guilt. That is, he has this many guns, obviously he’s guilty. Even when that person is actually engaging in lawful activity. Another case: What media bias against guns and gun owners?
The general stupidity of the raise taxes crowd has always amazed me. Now it makes sense. In light of recent events, it is clear that those who advocate tax increases do so because they’re not going to pay taxes anyway. Funny how it’s always because of ‘errors’.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
