NRA Polling

Interesting polling data from Pew. So, let’s see. US adult population is 249,485,228. 3 in 10 own a gun. So that means 74,845,568 say they own guns. Of those 3 in 10, 19% say they’re NRA members. So, 14,220,658 people are NRA members? Or, rather, some number of people think they’re members.

Say what you want about the NRA, but I sure wish there were 14,000,000.

Shit, I wish 14,000,000 gun owners took a more active role in protecting our rights in general. Let alone support a group like NRA or SAF or GOA. Or their state orgs.

    Members. 14MM MEMBERS.

Once a member, always a member, because that’s how the Left categorizes any members or former members. And you can be damn sure they’re keeping lists, based on everything from your Google searches to your Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat/Myspace accounts. It is what they do, group people to deny them rights.

Think of NRA membership as having stated, at least once, very publicly, that you don’t support totalitarianism, and that you own a gun to emphasize that fact. What totalitarians will ever trust you again?

Once the Left is again in power and can finally send us to the camps, it won’t matter if your dues are paid up for this year, you have a lifetime membership, or if you once wanted a new range bag and got a membership for the bag. You are on their list.

Make their list useless. Keep them out of power.

Yeah; at the moment I have an NRA card with a membership number, I get American Rifleman and all the other stuff in the mail all the time. I’m NRA-trained, but technically speaking my membership is temporarily lapsed even though I gave them a donatiuon the last time they called on the phone (money not applied as membership dues). They even send me ballots. So I’m not a “member” in the strictest sense but I’d say I’m a “member” if asked in such a poll.

It’s a matter of hair-splitting with the termonology. Then there’s the question of how the NRA themselves count “membership”. For magazone advertizing rates it’s going to be total circulation, plus (lots of extra issues are printed which never see a reader’s hands), but the actual members in current standing is another number altogether.

How many are not official NRA members, but belong to some group like SAF, or a state organization like GOCRA, ISRA, or just a local gun club? They use NRA to describe their club to an uninformed pollster like people say Kleenex for facial tissue?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
