Poll: Generic democrat has 15 points on generic republican
There’s a few different ways to read this, I suppose. First is that there are specific democrats and republicans running. Next, I wonder if the the failure of the GOP to implement their promises has turned people away. That may be the case.

If voters were disgruntled with certain Republicans for not fulfilling their promises, then why oh why would they vote for Democrats, who would also not fulfill those promises, but would do the opposite of what was promised?

More likely, the election of an ignorant, immoral standard bearer who routinely flaunts our ideals has turned them off.
BTW, the national level polls last year were largely right. The RCP average was Clinton +3.2, actual results were Clinton +2.1. That’s well within the margin of error.

Generic Republicans, and Trump, ran for office in the 2016 Presidential Republican Primary. Trump won.

This week, specific Republicans, who we have handed the keys to all 3 branches of government and who still can’t find their collective backsides with both hands, will probably obey their Corporate businesswhiner masters and throw a monkey wrench in everyone’s retirement. No money will be available for ammo, much less any new additions to the firearms inventory. I think we can compare our political relationships (D vs. R) to a woman being bounced between the boyfriend who stabs her and the one who sets her on fire. We need a party for the average conservative working man.
