On the US Army’s adoption of the Sig P320

Tam:

Personally, I think the MHS contest could have been as satisfactorily resolved by throwing a P320, an M&P, and a Glock 17 into a sack, spinning it around a few times, and reaching in and pulling one out. They all work fine, and if there’s a less crucial weapon in modern warfare than the pistol, it probably attaches to bayonet lugs.

Yup.

I agree with her until the last statement. Any of the named handguns would have been acceptable.

However, the use of handguns in the military has risen due to the realities of security in hostile areas. There are more than a few tragedies that could have been avoided had every soldier and DA civilian been armed at all times while deployed.

And just try to negotiate the chow line with an M249.

It probably was an eenie meenie miney moe and came down to who wanted the prestige bad enough to bid down to $207 per…which I don’t know but seems likely to be under at or under cost. It’s a strategy a version of which explains Glocks in every popo holster and worked out great for them.

Follow the money. Always follow the money.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
