It seems like the DeeCee metro gummint is in full opposition to legal gun ownership. Since said legal ownership was recently enumerated as a specific right in Heller, how much longer before the DeeCee gummint is sued for deprivation of Federal civil rights under color of law, and the entire police brass and the city Fathers who control them are given their walking papers and maybe some jail time, say 20 years or so, to think over the proposition that when the Supreme Court yells “jump”, at you, your reply is to yell back “how high, sir”.
“SHHHH! Don’t Tell Anyone! Maybe it’ll go Away! After all, what do these Peasants need Guns for anyway? After all, we’re the ONLY ONES who should have them!”- DC Metro Police Memo.
Assuming there’s someone who will fund it, plus someone who would argue it (Alan? David? Both?) I can foresee the potential for a pretty substantial federal civil rights lawsuit here, one that would bring the District of Corruption into full and complete Constitutional compliance rather brutally. Which, I think, would not be a bad thing; there’s no doubt it would require another trip to SCOTUS, but F&C compliance might turn out to be a pretty good thing for those of us in The Other Jurisdictions.
Les, don’t confuse the police with the Lawmakers. Poll after poll shows that law enforcement officers support the individuals right to bear arms.
Chiefs, on the other hand, are a different story. This same Chief sat on the steps with then Mayor Adrian Fenty after the Heller decision and held a press conference on how disappointed she was at the Supreme Court for allowing the inevitable red river of blood to spill thorugh the streets thanks to private firearm ownership.
@Rivrdog-I hate to break it to you, but the DC government has more pressing concerns. The Mayor is months if not weeks away from being Federally indicted, and a few City Council people after that. We have a corrupt, corrupt, City Government and the jig is finally up. Hopefully Congressman Issa will get the Financial Control Board back and the city will have the chance to get back to normal. The last time that happened lawmakers enforced the current laws instead of creating new ones, and the City Council didn’t have carte blanche to spend the city away on special interests.

In DC, the police are douchebags then.
