Except there’s no BUIS

Slide mounted red dot sights. I do like the concept but you would need back ups. The FN45 has iron sights that are mounted pretty high just for that purpose.

I just see those setups and wonder how long those red dots are going to take the back and forth slide battering. Not the same kind of loading you see on a standard receiver mount.

Okay, so let me get this straight. We get a Red Dot, a Tritium Sight package, a Laser Grip and a Flashlight, plus 2 High Cap Magazines for reloads, all of which we are supposed to carry concealed in an IWB Holster/ Mag Combo. Got it.

So who makes a good Hernia Truss for Concealed Carry?

  3. SayUncle Says:

    No, just carry a carbine.

    I don’t have a real opinion, but Devil’s Advocate hat on…

It’s a handgun, what do you need a BUIS for?

In general (pay no attention to my caveat) at “normal” handgun ranges you should be able to effectively hit with even a bare slide.

I forget the term, but your trained eye makes instantaneous comparisons of the slide oriented to the target as part of a “flash sight picture” anyway. The sights are not superfluous, but for an experienced shooter they are aids more than necessities in “minute of bad guy” terms.

Heck, most of them still provide an “aiming circle” if the dot goes away, and the front sight will still be there to orient to.

Gabe Suarez started this. I’ve shot one of the TSD Glocks, and I gotta say that having a red dot on your pistol is pretty nice. And the Trijicon RMR that they use is tiny.

If you really want to know what these can do, go check out warriortalk. Oh, and the Suarez kit has an option for BUIS (actually suppressor sights so that cowitness is possible): http://www.onesourcetactical.com/tsdcombatsystems.com.aspx

And yeah, they have IWB holsters for these bad boys. I’m trying to justify spending that kind of coin on a pistol.

Most of these setups use suppressor irons, so they remain functional.

The skeptics of RDS on pistols need to read this thread: http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?1763-RDS-on-a-SemiAuto

Gabe (and warriortalk forums by extension) is not exactly the person you would want shilling for your particular set up. Just ‘sayin…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
