More guns . . .

Homicide drops off US list of top causes of death

How could this be with gun sales, ownership and citizens carrying guns be at record highs?

Could it be that the prejudice, bigotry and fear-mongering of the anti-gunners is completely unfounded? Yes!

It took an asshole with a few airplanes at his disposal to get it at it’s highest rate. Even Bin Laden didn’t use guns to perpetuate the 9/11 attacks.

Ban all Air Travel because Airplanes kill people and make a great big carbon footprint. Wait, I’m sorry. I forgot that Al Gore is wrong. Please revise the above statement to “Airplane violence is wrong”.

The problem w/ this list is that it depends on death Certs. Since you can’t use “old age” as a reason, everyone dies of cardiac arrest (hart attack/ disease) or pulmonary arrest (stop breathing). I bet 95% of nursing home deaths clam one of these two as the reasn for death. I can’t fathom how they get these numbers because if you look at a chart many people have heart disease, Diabetes, COPD, Emphysema, plus a host of others. It’s easy to see if someone died in an accident, shot, etc, but how do they choose which disease was THE one?

Without access to the underlying data, I am still disposed to believe that there are islands in the data set where the homicide rate does way better than 15th.

Let us suppose that we looked at the homicide stats of the worker’s paradise run by the commie wing of the Democrat party for the last 60 years, in such places as Detroit, LA, Chicago, and Washington DC.

I know that if you are a black male between the ages of 15 and 40 in those places, your chances of living long enough to choke on your last supper at 75 are not good.

While mine may be better, I am not looking forward to it.

My father’s death certificate lists 2 causes – both diseases, neither of which he had. It was signed by his “general practitioner/primary care” doctor who hadn’t seen him in over 5 years. It didn’t list the cancer that actually killed him and for which he had been under treatment for 15 years (or so).

    Lies. Damn Lies. Statistics.

  6. SGB Says:

Death certificates and causes of fires are almost always wrong.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
