That barrel with the integrated shroud is a really smart piece of work, but at $285 (via Brownells), it’s more expensive than the stamp for an actual SBR.

This is the second person I’ve seen recently who recommends the Tactical Solutions X-Ring receiver.

I keep kicking around the idea of building a match grade 10/22, so I find these articles interesting. But here’s my question: does the Tactical Solutions receiver really make that much of a difference?

If I shop carefully, I can get a used 10/22 for half the price of the TS receiver. I’m not saying it isn’t worth it; I don’t have the experience to be able to say. But I’m curious.

Perfect 10/22 with the factory trigger group, and no mention of the excellent Kidd triggers? o_0

I built my target 10/22 last month. I went with the single stage Kidd trigger group, Revolution Trailblazer stock, factory receiver, factory bolt, Kidd extractor, and the Kidd lightweight barrel.

The CMP league I am in has several restrictions (no thumbhole stocks, no fluted barrels, less than 7.5 pounds) which is why I opted for the lightweight barrel.

All in all, I am happy with how it turned out. I am very impressed with the barrel and trigger from Kidd. Spend a few minutes on rimfirecentral.com, and you’ll see that quite a few people agree with Kidd over TacSol. Kidd makes receivers as well, but I had a Ruger receiver sitting around, and it’s a tried and true design.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
