Not sure why the hysteria if the kids were appropriately supervised.

Anti-gunners don’t realize that if kids spend time learning and properly handling firearms the kids will actually develop a sort of respect for them. Kids that only see guns in movies and video games have no concept of what it is like to actually hold and use one and therefore develop over glorified ideas of them.

The “community organizer” sounds like the typical like-to-hear-herself-talk blow hard who fears guns because she knows nothing about them and refuses to learn.
