OK, so I don’t have an AR-15. Is there a “consumer reports” like site out there that addresses AR-15s? I’ve gone to a bunch of forums, but frankly they aren’t worth the time wading through the banter. I’d just like to see model/price/rating type reviews.

I’ve been looking at them, and I really don’t want to start building anything myself until I know that it’s something I’ll use a LOT.

    Thanks.

Pretty much, most of the major brands of AR are made from the same parts. I usually buy parts from jtdistributing.com and their complete rifles are sold under the name doublestar (star15.com).

Now that is the type of info I can use. Thanks.

I was hoping it was something like that. I go on vacation in a couple of weeks and AR-15 shopping is a step ahead of painting the shed and replacing the dishwasher.

I’m just some guy on the internet but Bravo Company Machine has impressed the heck out of me lately.

Try ar15.com or defensivecarry.com amongst others. Look at the defensive rifles section for good discussions. Everyone has there own ‘baby’ in the mix so pay attention of who says what as well as what was said. Mall ninjas abound everywhere. 🙂

    That’s hate speech!

Hey, I got one of those!

But I got mine on sale a while back for $99 shipped. 😉

I’ve done it two ways. I’ve got a bespoke AR15 assembled by Fulton Armory – Douglas air-gauged barrel, Jewell trigger, etc. I’ve also got a semi-Frankengun – Bushhampster assembled lower, Vltor collapsible buttstock, Stag M4gery upper. Both are highly reliable, surprisingly accurate and fun to shoot. Of course the Fulton does a lot better at 500 meters than the Stag.

Thanks all for the advice. I did look at AR15.com but there is a bit too much information there. I’ll spend some more time sorting there and see if it helps.
